Chelsea TV - Free for a week

Chelsea TV begins broadcasting on Monday (August 13) at 7pm and will be available for free for one week only to all Sky digital subscribers on channel 427.

From Monday August 20, the new channel will be available as a subscription service for £6 a month and will give viewers the chance to see:

* Every Chelsea match, home and away, in this season's FA Barclaycard Premiership - delayed in full.

* Delayed highlights from Chelsea's 2001-2002 UEFA Cup campaign.

* Interviews with players and the coaches.

* All the latest headlines from inside the club.

* News from the training ground.

* Exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from Chelsea Village.

This week Chelsea TV viewers will be able to watch action from Chelsea's pre-season build up, including their matches against Vicenza and Udinese in their recent tour of Italy.

Well as a Barnsley fan I won't be subscribing but may watch some of the programming whilst its free - always interested to see behind the scenes footage.

For those getting break-up on Chelsea TV - do you have a DECT phone (i.e. digital cordless)? If so try unplugging it for a short while. The break-up should cease.

The transponder that Chelsea TV is on suffers from interference from DECT phones. The answer is to move the phone / base as far away from the digibox as possible, or use a different phone. The other answer is to ensure that the lead down from the dish, and all connections, are well shielded.

DECT Phone

JESUS BLOODY CHRIST! My DECT phone sits right next to the telly & digibox! No wonder it was breaking up like mad.

Cheers for the info, did not know that they could interfere with one another.

I have just moved it but it seems not to make any difference. I suppose these DECT phones have quite a good range. If Sky know that DECT phones interfere on this frequency, then why do they use it ?

Re: Chelsea TV - Free for a week

Yea, break-up here as well and I have a cordless. Don't support Chelsea, so ain't going to move my phone

Does not look a bad channel though, although the after match interviews with the players were a real laugh.

My cordless is about 30ft away from the digibox, and none of the digibox cable run anywhere near it and last night breakup was severe most of the time I just had a still picture and no sound.

I can't say they'll be getting my subs!

Unlikely scenario, but what if..

Chelsea got relegated? What material would they be left with the rights to broadcast? Might not happen in a football sense, but financial irregularities ensure its always a possibility!
What I'm getting at here is the conflict in interest. there are clubs in the Nationwide who's share holders include Sky, yet the rights to televise their games are owned by ITV. Likewise there are teams in the Prem part owned by NTL, whose rights belong to SKY. This is all getting very silly!

Re the problem on pictures. If you experiement with unplugging the phone next time you see break-up it should dissappear. The break-up appearantly doesn't affect fully shielded installations.

Re the question of rights. The club channel rights have nothing to do with who owns other TV rights to the league. For the Premiership, clubs can show games on their TV channels or their websites a specific time period after being played. This is independent of ownership, and has nothing to do with Sky. It is a fourth type of tight, after Sky subscription rights, PPV rights, and ITV highlights rights.
