Tonights Problem Was That The Overall Standard Is So Low

Lucie summed up the talent on the show this year. A bit bland.

None of them have delivered in the top 12 and that has left the show relying purely on the entertainment of John & Edward (which is wearing thin!). We've not really had any great performances yet. Lucie was never going to win, nobody was watching the show to see what Lucie did next.

What worked perfectly last year was that Rachel & Diana could be saved on the grounds of talent but also provided the controversy and entertainment. Plus others put in great performances along the road.

This year, it's all on John & Edward who are not talented.

Good points.

They're the only reason to tune in. They had a better balance last year. This year everyone's generally okay but there's nobody outstanding or engaging. Nobody who excites - apart from Jedward. The problem? They can't sing. And thus cast the show's integrity into doubt. It's a tough one.

They picked a stupid final 12 though - I'm sure the pool of talent from the auditions wasn't that bad?

Last year was so much more entertaining than this year's farce.

We had Eoghan (and how he stayed in the competition for so long!), Alex, Diana, Ruth, Austin & Laura's exits, Laryngitis-gate, and more.

This year we've only got John & Edward and Lucie's shock exit.

When it got to boot camp the vast majority on here were saying how poor everyone was so yeah, J&E have actually made it interesting this year as 'a bit bland' just about somes up most of the other contestants. I was on the verge of watching Strictly in the earlier rounds (actully did watch a bit of it) and I never normally do that.

I think you're right.

Over all, I think the final 12 this year was more talented than last year. However, last year had more individually talented people (Laura, Alexandra, Rachel, Austin, JLS). But last year also had more cannon fodder (Badlashes, Girlband, Scott, Daniel, Ruth). This year, the only cannon fodder was Rikki, Kandy Rain and Rachel.

I'd rather have a really low standard of talent with two or three really talented people, tbh.
