The Chris Moyles' "Posse"
I don't really want to discuss Chris Moyles himself on this thread, but rather, his team.
"Comedy Dave" - Whilst having the most boring voice on radio and making even the tedious link more tedious than it should be, he generally comes across OK - obviously a sharp cookie with some good one liners and one would be interested to know how much he actually contributes to the show - quite a bit I suspect. Dominic Byrne - very odd looking (has anyone seen the "Oddbox"?), he does what he says on the tin, ie read the news, gives out the most pathetic weather forecasts ever heard on radio and acts as the butt of a lot of Moyles' jokes. Rachael. What has happened to her lately? She seems to have taken a massive backseat since her wedding and her place seems to be monopolised by Aled (of which more later ). Like all of them to a larger or lesser extent, she know which side her bread is buttered and who is the boss.Carrie - probably my favourite. I like her voice, she clearly loves sport and she has done one or two bits for BBC Sport on TV occasionally and she has a naive quality in her interviewing which I find endearing. Aled - this is where I really have the problem. Never one to deny or envy other' success, this guy seems to have gone from being a humble broadcast assistant, through to producer and is clearly now being groomed as one of the next generation of presenters on Radio 1. I find him cloying, sycophantic to an alarming degree and just so pleased with himself, I find myself almost shouting at him on the radio! Loves referring to what is discussed "off air", very corporate and so far up Chris Moyles' ass it is untrue. In case you are wondering - I CAN'T STAND HIM AND WISH HE WOULD GO! Rant over!

Though the fact you can write so much about the traits and personalities of a group of people you've never met means actually they must all have extremely well defined characters that they bring to air each morning and are assured in their roles. Credit for that must lie with the show's production team for making sure each member of the show has a 'role' and a defined 'personality' on-air, - of which Aled, as you've pointed out, is near the top of the tree in terms of production for that show.
Get on your t*ts he may, but it seems that's more a case of him being not the type of person you'd get on with in the real world, rather than him being bad at his job... |

I agree I think Aled is great on the Sunday surgery, he does come across as caring and sympathetic. The surgery is one of my fave shows on R1
