Radio 2 Imaging Changes

I'm just wondering if Radio 2 will just change there Idents to just Radio 2 like Radio 1 have? Steve Wright has just had another bunch of jingles sung for him with just Radio 2 sung at the end.

The imaging will only be used on jingles and trailers for the digital switch over instead of the 88291 jingles, etc...

Is Radio 2 planning on getting new jingles? I know SW has his own set, but for the rest of the output?

I guess when Evans takes over Breakfast would be the ideal time to intoduce such changes.

They were introduced in October 1997, I think. They're quite legendary these days!

You know where you are with Radio 2's current TOTH jingle but some new imaging to coincide with the new Breakfast show and a new decade would be a good idea.

I definitely think there will be new jingles for the Chris Evans breakfast show.

I wonder when Radio 2 will start plugging it?

Yes, though I liked the old "Ray-dee-oh Twooo" ones from the 80's as well

Occy suggested a while back that Chris uses his old Radio 1 jingles on the breakfast show. There's only one flaw with that: the jingles will say Radio 1.

Ooh they scare me! They're rancid and remind me of Franes Line.

That's if they have them still? Most were on Cart and they were thrown out when the studios were revamped. I'm guessing the Word 88291 will be removed from the jingles now, and have the straight tag line Radio 2. Radio One recently did this.

I'm pretty sure Chris would have kept his own copies of the R1 jingles and possibly the master tapes!

Aye but a lot of his old R1 jingles pointed out he finished at 9 o'clock.

I wonder if the program will be titled as in "The Chris Evans Show" so it keeps it's name when he's off like Moyles does

Anyway, gone way o/t here

Slightly later than that, the current jingles were introduced on 14th February 1998.

Interesting to note that Radio 1 haven't mentioned 97-99 FM in their jingles for a few years now.

Don't the Newsbeat jingles start with "Digital, FM, Online - this is BBC Radio 1" They just don't mention the FM frequencies

From Groove Addicts Website

BBC Radio 2 returned to Groove Addicts in January 2003 for another package to compliment the initial Groove Addicts package created in 1997. Radio 2 continues to enjoy a major increase year to year in total audience and Robert Gallacher, Head of On Air Promotion at Radio 2, credits the Groove Addicts ID's with having a major inpact on the overall continuity of the station sound and success.

They are so dated. Radio 2 need nice fast moving Jam sung ones like Radio 1 had in the 80's and 90's. Then it would sound the bees knees.
