What does a MAC code look like ?

As the title states, what does it look like ? - is it just a bunch of numbers ?

A MAC address can consist of any alphanumeric between 0 and f (i.e. 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f)

If you want to see your own mac, open a command prompt and type in "ipconfig /all" (assuming you're using a version of windows)

A MAC from an ISP is a sequence of letters, numbers and characters. It looks a bit like this:

No prob.
If I remember correctly they have ISPs have to supply you with a MAC code within 5 days of applying

Well, it really depends on the ISP. When I moved away from BT, it took them about 3 or 4 days to supply a code IIRC. However, when I switched from ADSL24 (Entanet), they emailed me the code about 30 minutes after I requested it, and this was about midnight as well.

Whether you like it or not, the question was mis-interpreted. It has nothing to do with "MAC" being used for two things, because the word "code" was clearly there.

FWIW, when I went from BT to O2, I never saw my MAC code - O2 handled it all for me (at my request).

I said within 5 days. That is the maximum time that ISPs have to produce the Information, if they provide there and then then that is within the maximum allowed. I got mine two days after applying.

Why is this such a big deal??

The original post was misread by someone and this was sorted out very quickly. Everyone is happy and the OP knows what to look out for.

It is very possible that landers saw the MAC part and answered purely based on that (and they did refer to it as a MAC address not code). Easily done and probably what I would have done too.
