Xfm names its "Song of the decade"

Xfm has just played out its top 100 of the last ten years --

The Killers - Mr Brightside -- #1
Arctic Monkeys - 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor' --#2
Kings Of Leon - 'Sex On Fire' #3

What do you reckon - are these lists entirely pointless, I mean its just a reflection of the type of listener a station has and quite interesting in that sense. I know Absolute are compiling their own one as well - will be interesting to see how they compare what with Xfm/Absolute being quite big rivals.

Its much better than NME's list , probably because it was voted for by the public/listeners rather than a bunch of Journalists with there heads up there own arses

Much as I love NME Ill agree with you that some of their choices were a bit pretentious... although Xfm's were too damn obvious and mainstream.

I wouldn't have said Crazy in Love (NME's no. 1) was a pretentious choice. Ironically it was played a lot on Xfm back in the day and I criticised them for it - and I was wrong. It's a great song. Mr Brightside? Not so much.

Was Maroon 5's 'This Love' played on XFM? That would be my choice of song of the decade

No, I don't think any Maroon 5 was ever played on XFM unless they played 'Harder to Breathe' when it came out?

Let me guess, it's not Tinchy Strider, 50 Cent, Cascada, The Black Eyed Peas or Leona Lewis then?

Lets be 100% honest... it wont be a song or an act that was a huge public seller.

It's a silly Xfm playlist only farce!!

I'm very surprised at this list. I didn't notice the naked song, that machine didn't make the top 50, the Verve song they wouldn't stop playing couldn't make the top 90, and were Glasvegas or Noah and the Whale in there?

Will the list have any impact on the XFM playlist?

Cheryl Cole's 'Fight for this love' and Victoria Beckham featuring Dane Bowers' 'Out of your mind' has got to be up there aswell.

RESULT!

I voted for Mr Brightside! It was my first choice!

I also entered Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Green Day and Starlight by Muse.

But dead happy with the top 3

Well it was voted for by XFM's listeners , of course if Kiss 100 done the same poll the results would be a lot different

I'ts nice cushty, fluffy radio with listener participation & interaction, but I wonder how many dance oriented tracks had to be removed because they didn't fit the playlist?

It's completely made-up and irrelevant!

Not many I doubt it, because once again this was made up of the votes of Xfm's core demographic -- Skinny jean wearing indie kids in Camden.

Flaming Lips - Do you realise
British Sea Power - Waving Flags
Manic Street Preachers-Jackie Collins Existential Question Time
Radiohead - Jigsaw falling into place
Late of the Pier - Space And The Woods

And many more...

It does look very "tweaked". I find it very hard to believe the Xfm audience only likes songs that fit Xfm's current music policy.
