'The Wyre' (107.2) What a good station!

I don't think I have ever seen 'The Wyre' (107.2) mentioned on these forums...so I thought I should sing it's praises.

The 'Wyre' covers Stourport/ Bewdley/ Wyre Forest and Stourbridge...god knows why I am picking this up 20 odd miles outside it's TSA...but i'm not complaining.

Listening to this station on and off most of yesterday (sunday) and all I can say is what a good variety of music they play! The output is excellent without the repetition of other stations.

I really enjoyed the classic club tracks on sunday evening (not sure of which show this was as I am a first time listener) but - hey...it put's 'Heart' to shame! Also they play a really good variation during the day time as well.

This station really deserves some recognition for it's output because you reslly do not know what track is up and coming next...which is addictive listening! (to me anyway)

What a good station this is and it is a shame others don't do the same. My only flaw is the audio quality which seems 'over' compressed with too much bass and 'muddy' sounding compared to the usual FM quality....overall though it is definately in league with the 'Sunshine' brand with it's similar variation of music output.

Are you sure there's no Staffs, Black Country, Leicestershire pirate interfering with this station?

Why do you ask? The signal is quite good where I am and quite listenable in 'stereo' with a slight background hiss...but no real interference as such. (No real RDS due to signal strength...but luckily I can re-name the preset as a station name)

I just thought I'd make sure, as you seem to frequently suggest that there's a lot of pirates that are receivable in the WMs that interfere with stations not legally licensed to cover the WMs.

I enjoy Totally 80s and David Hamilton's million sellers very much. The jingles are good as well, like those from the 80s almost and the station has that retro feel, which to me is great.

I heard it a few weeks ago after Totally 80s on the Friday night/Saturday morning.
Although it is not listed on the website so maybe they pakyed it by mistake lol.
Incidentally according to the new website, Totally 80s is on five times over the weekend (including late Friday night).

Don't think it's being made any more because it used to be on Splash Fm (where David is a director) and it's gone now-i'm sure it would still be on there if it was still going.

It was still going at midnight on Friday on 107.2 The Wyre.
Great programme, in my opinion.
The minimum of chat, just the facts behind the songs and albums.
And as you'd expect with million sellers, there's some good music in there.
