i really love reality tv. but i find the utter desperation of people in those audition queues kind of unsettling.

that's true, they are all desperados so whoever is the most desperate is going to be extremely unlikeable, probably they will be like Alison from BB3

naively i always hope for housemates who are primarily motivated by experiencing the experience for its own sake.

I don't think that this is a naieve, Jon Tickle proved this last year. It depends on what Endemol/C4 think will entertain us this time... after last year they might just swing too far to the other side, or learning from last year they might just put a few similar characters to Jon in there.
