SPOILER Corrie's Roy is tormented

SOURCE: The Scottish Daily Record

Corrie cafe boss Roy Cropper is to be driven to despair by a bullying
campaign which could force him to close for good.

Mild-mannered Roy tries to stand up to builder Vince when he brings his
own food into Roy's Rolls.

But when he hears the policemen he has called laughing with the smug
builder, he decides to shut down the cafe.

A Coronation Street insider said: 'Roy tries his best to deal with Vince
but it all proves too much for the sensitive cafe owner.

'He angers Street residents by shutting the cafe.

'Fans will wonder if this will be the end of Roy's Rolls, or if Hayley
will be able to help her husband out of the doldrums.'

The drama unfolds on December 27 when Roy (David Neilson) is upset by
Vince's insistence on eating his own food in the cafe while he is
working nearby.

Frankie Baldwin (Debra Stephenson) tries to help and throws Vince out
but Roy sees this as pity and takes it all out on the Webster kids when
they come in eating their own chocolate.

Mum Sally (Sally Whittaker) then accuses Roy of being a bully.

The next day, Roy still feels threatened by Vince and spends the morning
skiving off.

When he does eventually return to the cafe, after Hayley's
encouragement, Vince is there again making nasty digs and inciting
others to join in.

And when Roy calls in the police, they laugh behind his back at the
complaint.

Later, when Roy appears to be making progress, Jason (Ryan Thomas) makes
a joke of recent events and he overreacts by throwing everyone out of
the cafe.

?

The police tend to not laugh at victims, whether they think they are making relevant or ridiculous claims.

I don't think they will be. Vince may make a joke and they laugh but Roy sees and thinks that they are laughing at him.

Spent 12 years working for the police in London, I can confirm that indeed, rude policemen do exist

Just like the storyline Roy had with Tracy's baby, this should also show how talented the actor David Neilson is. I hope he shines through.

It was Vinnie she had the affair with (I think - where's Ben when you need him ).

I imagine David Neilson will shine in this, he's a fantastic actor and can do the heavy, tormented stuff so well.

Frankie had an affair with a man named Vinnie but he was a businessman not a builder

Much as I love roy and don't like the idea of him being bullied, I think this is great because it gives David Neilson a chance to shine, and to show he capabilities as an actor. It should be carried out very well.

I don't think he's that good a dramatic actor - he's got a character part, with the face for it, which helps, and ok, performances don't have to be brilliant in a soap to be enjoyable, of course - but I always find his agony scenes overdone to the point where they make me laugh. And I'd rather he made me laugh as a comedian, because his light scenes can be superb, and I think he's very good at them - the pudding storyline a case in point.

The guy who plays Vince the bully is Conrad Nelson. He is one of the best actors I have ever seen on stage. It will be interesting to see how he does on Corrie.

For Corrie trivia fans, he is married to Deborah McAndrew who played Angie, Curly's lodger. And the play I saw him in also starred Sasha Behar (Mad Maya).
