Shaun Ryder -Bez On Drugs? I know He Ain't - And The Real Reasons For His Spotty Face

Days before he was due to go into the Celebrity Big Brother house, me and Bez sat down planning how he would get his "E" and weed inside.

We thought he could plug some up his arse and get a bag of rolling tobacco, fill it with weed and reseal it.

The he could carry it into the house, roll spliffs and noone watching on telly would have a clue, especially if he got Jamaican "dirt weed" which is the same colour as tobacco.

The only other problem would be the other housemates saying"What's that smell? " So you would have to find a way to tell them to shut the f*** up.

We came up with lots of ridiculous ideas of what and how before nodding off.

The next day we found out that if Bez smuggled anything into the house, he wouldn't receive any money that has been promised to him or to his charity. But it was the money the means the most to him - he is not arsed about his profile or about boosting his career.

KNACKERED

So we sacked the idea. Which is why I know those stories about him having smuggled some speed in are absolute boll***s. Besides, if Bez was going to take anything with him, it wouldn't be speed, it'd be "E" or MDMA.

***********************************************
( Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, otherwise knows as MDMA, or by its street name ''Ecstasy,'' is a synthetic drug with hallucinogenic amphetamine-like properties. Many problems that Ecstasy users encounter are similar to those found with the use of amphetamines in cocaine, and recent research links it to long-term memory damage and depression as well. Many medical professionals believe that even one dose of Ecstasy may put a user at a much greater risk of depression in later years. However, there are some who claim that Ecstasy has no long-term negative effects. It is important to note that these beliefs are reminiscent of the claims about LSD in the 1950's and 1960's which were proven to be quite untrue, and tragically so for many.

The use of Ecstasy has surged dramatically in recent years and it may well be on its way to becoming an epidemic. Seizures by the United States Customs Service have risen from less than 500,000 tablets during fiscal year 1997, to 5.7 million tablets to date this fiscal year 2000. In certain regions of the country, hospital emergency rooms have seen a dramatic increase in patients suffering negative effects of use. Arrests of Ecstacy traffickers are on the rise as certain foreign organized crime groups have reportedly developed sophisticated effective distribution networks in both worldwide and within the U.S. The margin of profit is significant. For a $100,000 investment in production of 200,000 tablets $5 million may be realized.
Threat posed by the illegal importation, trafficking and use of ecstacy
********************************************

Speed is a dirty drug he might have taken to keep him going when he is knackered or when he has a full schedule working club after club, night after night. Or flying abroad to do a show, purely to keep him awake to carry out his responsibilities and make sure contracts are fulfilled.

It's not a drug that would suit being in Big Brother. "E" is a drug that turns Bez into some sort of "Magic Roundabout creature.

But I know for a FACT that he didn't take anything with him. All these reports about him smuggling speed into the house are a right load of crap.

Some people think that because he's come out with lumps and spots on his face he must be taking speed. Bollo**s.

Bez is what is know in "rehab" terms as a "garbage head" - someone who goes out on extended parties, takes anything and everything but is not hooked on any one particular drug. Bez isn't an addict. He'll take whatever is going.

The lumps on his face are not a result of him starting to take speed. It's the result of him being in the house and not taking anything. It's all the chemicals coming out of his body's pores.

I've known Bez for 20-odd years and he gets the same lumps and spots in the same places - at the side of his nose and under his eye and on the forehead. It's a sign that his body is de-toxing and his system is cleaning him out. You see, before he went into the Big Brother house, he was partying like he does.

Bez has got more so-called "friends" who follow him from club to club and party to party than anyone else in the house has got fans.

But in the days before going into the house, he had to stay in his hotel suite.

He prefers MDMA which is a lot more expensive. With tablets you don't know what you are getting a lot of the time, so it may be a lot more expensive but it's safer.

I can imagine him sitting in a hotel doing MDMA, drinking wine, smoking his favourite weed and watching music television, just having his own party before he went into the house. That's where his spots came from. (source - Shaun Ryder's column in today's Daily Sport)

Bez is an addict. Or a drughead, if you prefer, as his mind is always on drugs, the next hit, the next opportunity, every day of the week.

The whole Bez drug thing is getting boring (and I don't mean that to be a slight against the OP)

So he does drugs. NEWSFLASH So do many millions of people. So what. The television industry is literally over flowing with white powder, I've worked in tv production and seen it first hand, all the time. People that seem to have a problem with it, get off your high horse, its rampant and many of the people you see on your screens partake.

That perhaps explains why Bez acts all nice and friendly and harmless - he's so used to acting like that from taking so much E's.

Yeah, but don't a lot of them get fired when they are "exposed" by some tabloid newspaper?

I think it's still perfectly valid to be quite negative about people on television who openly admit to taking drugs however normal it has become. As much as I like Bez, and would like any child of mine to have his sort of values in regards to how he will stand up for people, I don't think I'd be too over the moon to find him or her having to pop pills to be able to have a good time.

thats my point... bez cos narcotics, someone else's is literature. its an "addiction" and the only difference is what feeds the addiction..

(although, it can be seen that bez does not depend on it, so is it really an addiciton?)

The obvious difference to me is that literature is of far greater value.

Not true - an average paperback thriller is £6.95 whilst a gram of charlie is approx £40.00
