Anorak Thread: What is 'your' furthest station?

OK, It's a Friday night, and the anorak comes out!

What is the furthest FM (none national) station you can receive (in geographical distance from the transmitter). We are not talking atmospherics here, just the furthest you can receive under normal conditions. Please also post your location.

Mine, in Cheshire, is Q102 on 102.2 from Dublin at 120 miles.

I don't have the FM aerial plugged in at the moment, but may get a rotating directional one put in the roof.
But last time I had it, the furthest station that I could receive clearly would have been BBC Shropshire and Beacon 103 with RDS as that was the best it could do, through static I could get quite a few national stations from Ireland such as RTE 2FM & Today FM.
When I lived in Eastham it was easier to receive from all over the North West, I used to regularly get Century 106 with RDS from the East Midlands, and the Galaxy from Hull.

Not a great achievement, but without a lift, and with a little pocket FM radio, I managed to get Today FM on 101.1FM from the Gower Peninsula.

That's it, at the top, towards the path going down towards the beach - great for getting all the Irish stations.

I just didn't have enough time to check for anything else.

If your talking stations from the on FM I got Galaxy (The Manchester one, previously Galaxy 102). On AM I usually get Capital Gold Kent late at night in one spot in my living room, the rest of the day I get Capital Gold London and all the other London ones.

I can get BBC Radio Cymru from Wenvoe (96.8) most of the time in Norwich - that's with a 5 element aerial.

And here! And when I was in London - just about everywhere really!

I also receive Century 100.7 from Bilsdale, North Yorks, without a lift at my location, that's over 100 miles.

On DAB I can get the CE Manchester MUX from Telford

This is 64 miles away and I'm using a 6 element beam in the loft. The quality of the signal does vary with the radio conditions.

Andy.

Congleton, Cheshire - not a million miles from Robski, but a slightly worse location:

87.8: Lyric FM, Claremont Carn (Eire)
99.9: Classic FM, Sandale
102.2: Galaxy 102.2, Birmingham
105.2/7: Kerrang/Saga, West Mids regionals
106.4: Galaxy 105-6, North-east England

And that's about it!

I suppose my most distant reliable reception is of the BBC nationals including Radio Scotland on 94.7MHz, from Sandale, perhaps 80-90 miles as the crow flies but with the highest part of the Pennines in between.

I also regularly receive a faint signal from BBC Radio 4's Black Hill transmitter in Central Scotland on 95.8MHz, which must be at least 150 miles away.

As for locals, Metro's Shilbottle relay is always present here (but weak) on 102.6MHz - this is perhaps 60 miles as the crow flies but an easy path down the coast.

From just north of London:
North: Q103.0 or Vibe 106.4 (whichever is more northerly)
South: Southern 102.4
East: Essex 96.3/Invicta 103.1(whichever is more easterly)
West: FOX 102.6/2-Ten 102.9 (whichever is more westerly)

Well its either Borders or TFM, so not very exciting really. The strongest signal would be TFM

On DAB in Cardiff Bay with a loft aerial I can pick up the GWR NOW Wiltshire multiplex.

I can get most of the Somerset & Bristol stations on FM but that's nothing special considering i live right on the coast of the Seven Estuary anyway.

Nothing seems to change during lift conditions for me here either.

I think since hooking my FM radio to the TV aerial the most distant I get is probably Viking FM from Hull. Also can get Galaxy 105 and 106 Century FM. With an indoor aerial my most distant was Imagine FM from Stockport.

Was it at night or day? If it was day then that is impressive! I've managed BBC Scotland on that frequency at night myself in Wrexham. When I lived in Holland, I could faintly get Capital Gold London and Kent on 1548 and 603. Also I was in Broadstairs in Kent and once got Sky Radio on 100.7. I'm not sure if there was a lift or not at that time.

Must have been a slight lift, it wouldn't be there under normal conditions.

I had 100.7 (not Sky Radio anymore) from Holland just up the road from you in Cheshire, during an intense lift last September.
