Eastenders then and now
Which era of Eastenders do you prefer?
I was thinking about all the characters from the beginning compared to now: 1. Beales - Kathy, Pete, Ian and Lou 2. Fowlers - Pauline, Arthur, Michelle and Mark 3. Sue and Ali Osman 4. Andy and Debs 5. Naima and Saeed 6. The Watts - Angie, Den and Sharon 7. Dot and Nick 8. The Loners - Ethel, Dr Leg and Mary. Pat 9. The Carpenters Now we have Slaters , Mitchells - Billy, Sam, Little Mo, The Brannons etc The difference is that previously there was an emphasis on family and the interactions and relationships between eachother within and outside of those units. I have to say I prefer the cast of 1985 and the family interaction between the characters. |

I agree. It was a much simpler affair back then and the characters and stories were much more realistic. Of course back then there were only 2 episodes a week so the show could focus on a small group of characters that we could care about. Today there are too many episodes and this has been at the expense of good characters and stories. Soaps are better with only 2 eps per week- less is more I say!
