Family Affairs: Pete's off! (Spoilers)

Long-standing 'Affairs' actor to leave

Tuesday, May 31 2005, 12:20 BST -- by Kris Green

Five's flagship soap, Family Affairs, is to lose its longest serving actor in a dramatic storyline to be screened later this year.

David Easter, who plays bad boy Pete Callan, will finally get his comeuppance when twisted Trish Wallace, armed with a gun, storms the Black Swan pub demanding their baby.

A spokesperson told DS: “There are only so many enemies a soap baddie can make before their past catches up with them.

"The showdown will witness the end of Pete Callan’s time in Charnham, but whether he leaves The Black Swan for the final time in handcuffs or a body bag is yet to be decided.”

Viewers should expect to see these explosive scenes on screen in September.

From DS

I can't believe this, I'm gonna miss him.

Family Affairs always has 'explosive' scenes when characters leave. Thaat always tends to be literally speaking.

Ratings don't reflect quality, I'm guessing you're not a fan of Family Affairs and that's fine but don't ruin it for those of us that are.

It just says "Long standing actor to leave", so for those who don't want to know, they simply wont look to see who it is.

Do you always have to try and spoil FA threads?
And as someone else has already said, you Can say the same thing about SB! It got the lowest ratings when on in the states, and is currently getting low ratings now for its reruns here!

I thought he'd be off as soon as I heard about 'bigger' names leaving, he'll be missed but he's had his day IMO.

A shame, I really wanted Dave to be the one that got him!!!

Note how Dave does the 'mellow' DFS ads, and Jamie Theakston does the 'upbeat' DFS ads.

I really need to get out more...

I'm totally depressed by this news, Pete is the BEST character that FA has. Does David Easter wanna move on & do other projects? I'm gonna miss this guy, i'm surprised he never won the award for "Soap Villain," he WAS evil in the classic FA epis from '97/'01. He became soft when Eileen came on the scenes, lol! Speaking of whom, will she get her revenge on Trish? IF he leaves in a body-bag, will Shiobhan/Maria/Claire return to say farewell at his funeral? Any chance of Five repeating the classic Yrs from Pilot+? They were the good old days, I miss the Harts/Maria/Claire/Jullie-Ann/Jack/Elsa.
