Eastenders symbolic....
They have been a lot of them recently and theyre so clever!
I really liked the symoblic of the foxes in last weeks episode...the idea of two strangers yet familiar faces coming to the square and ruining everything causing chaos (Shannis) The shakespere touches have been great with references to Macbeth (Den's murder) and Romeo and Juliet (Leo/Demi) Tonight's episode did a lot of history. The whole Kat/Zoe story was very reminiscent of 'you ain't my mother' but this time Zoe was telling the truth, not Kat and Zoe wanting to hug Kat was just like Kat wanting to hug Charlie. I really liked the drama sequence at the end of tonight's too. The screaming and shouting as we saw the machine, floor and corridor and then basement followed the dragging of Den's body as screaming occured. It is so creepy to think of these women screaming in chaos and dragging a bloody dead man to his grave. Tonights drama sequence may have been a bit OTT but it was done well and really made Den's death just. I really like the direction EE is going and as long as they don't go over the top with it, i hope EE remains like this by going back to its dramatic roots... |

Brilliant post, absolutely 100% agreed, and the whole week building up to the return of kat the obvious rat problems, and the fact that a "Cat" was needed, "a slater Cat" to get rid of the rats.

I don't think the semi flashbacks was OTT one bit, I thought it was unique, tense, and it put you (the viewer) right into what Zoe et all must have been feeling that night. It made me stand and notice the tv, instead of my surroundings. The first thought that came into my head was in fact "Wow, whats this?" It ensnared me to say the least. EE had turned into some kinda sequal movie to the night Den was killed, and I personally loved it. It wasn't until the end of the episode I realised how great EE really is getting.
Edit: Forgot to say, at first I thought they'd be flashbacks to the day Dennis caught Zoe red handed with his father, seeing the bed like that. But of course, it was just an unmade bed with clothes spread around it. Very unique. Lets hope EE makes these things regular (Though not tooo regular, it would lose the effect). |

i was hoping to see Den again but no, i miss him so much!
the whole thunderstorm i think also struck fear into everyone, which symbolised what dirty den did. |

I believe that eastenders is absolute quality right now, from these symbolic gestures, to the great acting by the departing michelle ryan and the influx of classic characters. I really think EE is back in a big way

And you get all that through watching 2 weeks of episodes when it was dire for 2 years? In two years time if the quality is the same of that in the past two weeks, then's the time to look back and say "EE is back in a big way"

I really don't like either of them.
Kat- A nosey cow to Zoe and a big gobbed cow to everyone else. Sharon- She goes around acting like she's the Queen of Walford when clearly she is not. Stuck up tart. |

If it stays this way, then it is good quality |

Sorry, EE is a big pile of snivelling dog poo - I don't see any intelligence or symbolism there at all At its best it's GCSE Drama practical exam level 1.

"Sorry, EE is a big pile of snivelling dog poo"
Thats says a lot about you dosn't it Anyone who speaks like that needs a reality check and needs to grow up. We're not talking about Jesus christ religious symbolic...we're talking about clever wring...obviously something you're not familiar with |

Clever wring? Yes, it's a shame there's no clever writing Thanks for the Jesus analogy - not lost on me as I have a Theology degree. I think you'll find my point was simply that any apparent symbolism is non-existent in EE. It is one of the most badly written, badly acted and poorly produced television programmes I have ever seen. I don't need a reality check - after all, we are all entitled to express an opinion on a public internet message board. |

I was going to post that I agreed until I realised that I'd misread the thread title as SHAMBOLIC
