Getting Xbox Live to work in student accommodation

I recently moved into student accommodation proved in Lincoln, as such I do not have a chouice about my internet supplier and have to use the broadband (I have no idea who supplies it) that is already in my apartment. When you log in on the PC and open an internet window, it redirects to a webpage that you have to type a username and password in before you can use the internet (it is a webpage not a popup username/password box). I have tried connecting through my PC then plugging the LAN wire into my XBox but and it goes through the stages of connecting but on the last stage (I think it's detecting XBox Live or connecting to XBox live) it cannot. Is there any way I can get it to work?

For it to work, several port need to be open on your university's firewall. See the Xbox support site.

You also need to get authentication for your Xbox to get through the Uni's firewall/proxy. Unless you can configure the username/password in the Xbox settings (and I'm not sure if you can) you've had it!

I'm sure if you ask around there are lots of other frustrated Xbox gamers who might have found a solution!

Mods: This needs to be in the Xbox forum please!

I've tried all over and no-one seems to be able to help, it's the very last stage that it fails on when it's trying to detect XBox Live
