Amstrad PVR3 installed yesterday and.......

It works!

Last Thursday noticed in my local woolworths a typical SKY display but the highlight was the buy Sky+ for £49 if you take multiroom. Snapped it up and rang Sky (30min queue) and install was arranged for yesterday. Engineer rang Wednesday night and, of course, the first thing I said was "any Pace boxes". He claimed all he had in his van were Amstrads. Ho hum. (As an aside he told me that 25 Sky fitters/engineers had come over from mainland England to cope with the Northern Ireland "push" and they were all on very good money and bonuses). Anyway the fitter turned up bright and early and made a nice job (tidy cabling/using existing drill hole/relocating) of things. The Amstrad was very quite as this point (fan going obviously but no silly ticking). When he left I turned off the "pause live" feature (only interested in recording certain programmes) and set about using the Amstrad and putting it through it's paces. No problems. All recordings recorded. Picture very good indeed. No issues.

Went to bed to awake this morning to discover that the latest software had downloaded and, again, all is perfect.

The kids are happy but can't understand why I keep ringing whilst out asking "is the box still working?" .

I'll give it some welly over the weekend but as things stand I am very pleased with it. And for £49 it's an xmas treat. So far

I hope you have more luck with your Amshite than I did. That's just how all my problems started, the fan kept coming on and off after about 5 minutes, very loud etc....then after a couple of days it stayed on constantly unless I pulled the plug! Anyway, 5 days in the box was knackerd! Now I have a nice new Pace PVR3 in it's place and I've not heard the fan come on once in the past two weeks!
