Yep - a Hollywood lady of the old school, and a great actress.

RIP Shelley.

I read her first volume of autobiography...and it was a fantastic read.

She really led a very interesting life and was a fantastic actress.

RIP...but a life well lived.

Sorry to hear that - always thought she was a great actress, and she always came across as a lovely lady.

That's sad. I didn't realise she was 85 though!

Shelley Winters was an American veteran actress who has been a stalwart of the movie industry for many decades. She was never really counted as one of the glamour stars of the Hollywood scene, but a great many people including myself and many others will mourn her loss but celebrate her life and career.

I think that there must be many people today who are fed on the current Hollywood celeb scene who will not know who Shelley was, but as far as real acting is concerned people like the Charlize Therons, Scarlet Johanssons, Keira Knightleys and others of their ilk have a long way to go before they come anywhere near to her talent.

She was part of old Hollywood acting royalty.

Sad news, but I can't forget her rather substantial back-side wobbling down that pipe in The Poseidon Adventure

That is one of my favourite movies, it's cheesy but exciting. She was great in it.

Shelly Winters may not have been classed as a glamour star but she had real beauty, personality, character and class. Is it any wonder she won two oscars. A really GREAT NATURAL WISE CRACKING actress and I am very sad at her passing. I will never forget her in Poisedon Adventure, Alfie, Lolita, Night of the Hunter, Executive Suite and A Place in the Sun to name but a few.
