food snobs

Any other food snobs out there? Some of the foods I refuse to let ionto my sophisticated palate are:

MacDonalds (real ground beef burgers are 100x nicer than this cack)
cheap microwave meals - horrible
cup a soup - how can this be called soup, its slime
cheap sausages - not sure what is in these bit it isn't meat
non organic of free range chicken or turkey - intensively raised chickens is so cruel
also turkey ham - what the hell is this! How does hame get made from turkey, I dread to think what chemicals are involved
cheap sliced ham - mashed up cheap bits of pork, chemicals and lots of water, and tastes nothing like proper ham.

Any other additions to the list. Or am I just too snobby

Sandwhiches made by anyone else besides myself - for some reason I can manage M&S ones, silly really,...but all others are a definate no no.

Dead mammals/reptiles/fish/insects etc.

Anything made by Nestle!

Lists aside, I think you'll find the majority of people in this country can't afford to be so picky.

Disagree with that. Fresh fruit and veg is cheap and good quality from many markets, and many local butchers sell decent meat for less than supermarkets.

Yes, but you mention organic meat and most butchers round here don't sell that. If they did it would probably be at too high a premium, and it wouldn't sell.

I like my food like I like my women - fast and cheap.

At the end of the day, whether it's fillet or brisket, it all comes out of the same hole.

These do not taste any worse than the free range variety IMO, at least not in a chicken and mustard sarnie.

I'm in between the two to be honest.

I enjoy the occasional MacDonalds but know its a load of cr4p so don't eat it often, microwave meals just taste processed, cup a soups are OK if you get the right flavour, cheap sausages are minging but then again if you look at the ingredients of expensive ones they're not that appetising, non free range chickens may be cruel but I cannot afford to spend £9 on a chicken (that's how much my butcher charges for them), turkey ham is vile - my Dad eats it and it stinks and I agree about the ham too.

I think food quality has a lot to do with what you can afford. Even the cheapest cuts of meat from a butcher are no way going to be cheaper than e.g. tesco value burgers. Yes, I'd never eat them by choice but if I was on the breadline and that's all I could afford (I'm talking desperate here!) I'd eat them.

I don't understand but my flirt receptors have picked up phallic images. So I'll smile and nod, smile and nod, smile and nod!

Sorry, ahem, food.

I'm not overly fond of Morrison's fruit and veg and would rather go without

But generally, as long as it doesn't look/smell/taste cheap then I'm in

I agree organic/free range chicken isn't cheap, although as a result I prefer to have chicken less often than eat lots of cruelly produced stuff.

Another couple of things to add to my list:

Pot noodles - yuck!
mass farmed salmon - nothing like the taste of real salmon, and full of additives and chemicals to make it a strange glow in the dark orange.

I agree with everything you said Ads, Those food are disgusting.

I wouldn't call it snobbery though, i would just call it selective.

I see food snobs as people who tell you they like thier steak rare and then act as if they are of a higher class just because of it.

MacDonalds is just full of lard, i dont even like them they make me feel sick everytime i drive past one, because i have too.

Microwave foods are not that bad, if you cook ready meals in the microwave then i agree they taste awful. I always do my ready meals in the oven, i get quorn ready meals instead now.

Turkey Ham? sounds dodgy too me, i never even heard of that until now.

Cup Of Soups i am not keen on, but i like Tomatoe Soup from Heinz in the tin, its lovely.

I cannot stand Pork Sausages they taste awful, i used to eat them, but now i heard about Quorn sausages and vegeterian ones i eat them instead. I also go to the gym everynight now.

Have you try'd Quorn Fillets? they are lovely.

I think you've summed that up pretty well. Retailers, including supermarkets, are out to make a profit. They wouldn't sell "economy brand" foodstuffs if there wasn't a clear demand for them.

Judging by the range of lower-price foods available on the shelves, there must be a lot of people who cannot afford much else - whether they'd like to eat more healthily or not.

Quorn sausages are horrid, but the rest of it is alright. The peppered steaks are especially nice.

Why would you eat fungus that is designed to look like sausages and steak, when there are sausages and steak avalable to buy? Dosn't make sense.

You obviously like meat to be eating a meat substitute, so why not just eat meat in the first place?

I am definitely a food snob!

I'm a snob in general. When my mum tries to feed me stew, or nuggets and chips, I tell her I don't like this common working class food and that it makes me feel sick...

god I'm so stuck up lmao...

despite this, I love mcdonalds, and loads of other crap.... I suppose it's just that when my mum cooks for me I expect something decent, which fair dos she does sometimes, like chicken, boiled potatoes and salad. mmm
