Sony KV-32FX60U Picture Break Up
My brother in law has a 6 year old Sony KV-32FX60U tv and a problem developed ysterday. The picture has broken up badly (a bit like when digital satellite goes funny in bad weather.) Sound is ok, on screen menus display ok. It is the same on UHF signals and scart fed signals.
Tried another tv on arial feed and scart, and it is fine. I suspect it is the tuner rather than the screen. Can anyone suggest what it might be please? Cheers Archie |

It can't be the tuner I'm afraid, not if its the same on a SCART fed signal as the tuner is not used when you are watching something via the SCART.
The FX60 sets were 100Hz, and had some kind of digital picture processing to improve picture quality (early version of the WEGA engine). I'd be inclined to suspect a component has failed somewhere in this processing circuit. Got to be worth having it looked at though, they were a fairly expensive set in their day, and I'd bet that barring this fault it still gives good pictures. |
