Mike Baldwin Finale is heartbreaking

I can't bear, to watch this character, tragically, fall from our screens..

it's too sad an ending for such a huge character...

Mike Baldwin is powerful and intense and his storylines over 30 years have been phenominal...

I have unfortunatley had to turn off, I can't watch his fall prey to the wicked schemes of Danny and Leeanne...

Please someone tell me, he leaves everything in his will, to the lovely Jamie...

please.....

Don't forget, that although he may have been the victim of many scams over the years - Mike has never been beaten. I am certain that Leanne won't get away with it, as Danny is also starting to melt.

Things don't have to be real to bring on emotions

True, but turning off because they can't bear to watch is not quite the emotion required by producers of a TV program.

An emotional storyline won't make people switch off, people may say that they aren't going to watch...but I'm sure that they will

Of course, some people are just that little bit emotionally unstable

Hats off to Coronation St. for deciding to go with this storyline. Has any mainstream drama dealt in depth with Alzheimer's /dementia before?

Love him or hate him, MB has been such a big part of the show for so many years; the fact that we all feel we know him - have grown up watching him - is what will make his decline so painful to witness. I watch the show on and off, but will certainly be watching this storyline.

I agree - this is a very strong story which has been played beautifully to everyone else -= especially the wonderful Johnny Briggs.

And don't worry, I feel almost certain that danny is going to have a change of heart soon leaving that scheming little bitch Leanne with nowt!

I agree with you both. The hardest part of this is knowing how Mike has been in the past, such a ruthless and shrewd business man, and of course...a womaniser. His downfall is all the more hard hitting because of this.

And Butters...I am also pretty sure that Danny will have a change of heart.

I don't """regularly"""watch 'the 3 spechmarks=I sort of know what's going on day-to-day but every ep isn't a must-watch-kind of thing...But Mike needs the biggest send off...to me along with Ken, Bet, Annie, Len, Rita et al is Coronation Street...god bless Mike...

I've been desperatley reading the "spoliers" in the hope of future news, about the will etc... it's gonna be explosive... and surely his Doctor & lawyer will be able to confirm he was of sound mind when he signs over "POA" etc...

aarrrggghhh where will it all end...

Surely it has a much bigger impact when it's with a character we know so much about.

Oh I hope you're right about Danny and Leanne! It IS going to be sad, but I wonder if Johnny Briggs is happy with his leaving story? I should think he would be pleased to get his teeth into such an emotional story.

Oh, I bet he's delighted. I'm sure any actor would love to have a challenging, powerful storyline like this one, and he's doing the story justice. Fantastic actor. I bet there wasn't a dry eye on set when he filmed his final scenes.

Can anyone tell me if Johnny Briggs is leaving of his own accord, or, have the Writers, decided the character has gone as far as possible..?

personally I'd have loved a happier finale, like Mike and Penny sailing off into the sunset...
