A very annoyed ex Journey South fan

Does anyone undertsand why Journey south's video is all about newcastle?!!?!? it has made me so mad, not to disrespect newcastle or anything, but the fact that Andy and Carl were born and raised in middlesbrough, it makes me quite mad. Not only is newcastle middlesbrough's biggest rival, but the fact that you see newcastle bridges and stuff, as if the transporter bridge in teesside isn't unique enough, considering it's one of the only bridges like it in the world. Upsets me that People like Jamie bell doesnt admit that he's from teesside, and the frontman out of maximo park is from teesside. Whatever happened to being proud of ur roots?

And your point for this thread is ?

So what if JS have lost a fan based on the video rather than their music ability. For every fan an artist loses, lets hope they gain two more

Are you going to start loads of anti JS threads up again, if so I have no intention of watching you spam the board with anti JS threads, it gets boring and diverts from information based threads on the acts.

I dont see what difference it makes where a video is shot, its the north is'nt it?
And most people wont even know its Newcastle if they never been there.

I agree absolutely with you leicesterbloke, what's wrong with Middlesborough, and being proud of your roots. But JS may have had no control over the video shoot, they probably protested themselves, it's whatever their producers wish to promote that counts in the end.

Well, I'm from Middlesbrough and I hate it there. I don't consider myself proud of where I'm from, either. It's a shit hole, with (apparently) the highest rates for prostitution, animal cruelty and truency in the country. It's also the cheapest place to live in the UK (because it is so crap!)

Still, filming in Newcastle suggests that they are from there, especially with their 1st video. Then again, people hear "North East" and instantly think of Newcastle, and that's it.#

"Absolutely", I think an awful lot of people will recognise Newcastle from a video. I've not seen it, but I think everyone knows the Tyne Bridge, right? "It's the north isn't it?" - So is Manchester, Grimsby, Liverpool, Durham... - all pretty different looking places

PS. I'd never come to these X-Craptor (ooh, get my maturity ) forums, but I seen this on that forum tracker on the home page and I thought journey South had split already

Um... Either it's "one of" or it's "the only" - it can't be both...

OK, slightly off-topic, I'll admit...

Sorry, maybe it does matter to some people, but I am not from England so I probably don't understand it.

There was an article regarding this in JS's local paper, and the boys are quoted as saying that they wanted to film the video in Middlesbrough, but they didn't have any choice, as management and their film crew didn't have enough time to shoot down there.

They shot the video while they were also performing on tour in Newcastle, so it made sense that they filmed there, while having busy schedules on the tour as well.

I have two friends from Middlesbrough and they couldn't care less whether the video was filmed in Newcastle, Middlesbrough or Mars.

Their issue is that it's a Hovis commercial of a video that doesn't do justice to an excellent version of a beautiful song.

That is very true, Sparrow7 ... I was having a drink with them both last night, and they told me exactly the same thing

JS are the 2 nicest lads we have ever met as bob will confirm.

Also its not their fault they filmed it in Newcastle. The management always have the last say. Dont blame JS just buy their album as its one of the best this year.

Thanks for that Mike.

Met them today, so I can confirm myself what lovely, genuine guys they are. And, the album is a must-buy. They deserve all the success they get.

My mate met them in Newcastle a couple of weeks ago! She said they were lovely and so much better looking in person.
Good luck to them and you can't really blame them for doing the video in Newcastle considering it is the best city in the north east

Yes, they are certainly much better looking in the flesh, especially Andy.

What struck me was how tall they both were. I was so tiny standing next to them! Lovely guys though, and they'd stand and chat with you all day, if they had the chance.

Andy is very good looking up close, I say this cos I was lucky enough to see them both backstage, got a quick peck too,
Carl is the cutest of the two imo. I can only agree with whoever's been lucky enough to meet them both, yes they're lovely personable young lads.

Good luck with their album!

If you'd read the original post I said I was quoting it, it was not my opinion. I put it there for you JS fans to debate.

I think this is disgraceful of Journey South. They should have shot the video in front of the twin ICI towers that you see belching out smoke as you drive into Middlesbrough, maybe doing the choruses in the main shopping centre, with a few mutated children shuffling about..

Actually, they could have sung in front of the 'bottle of notes', if it's still there (I havent been back for about 5 years)
