I heard this on This Morning and was really shocked - apparently he performed last night in Cardiff and there was no suggestion he was even ill... such a shame - 65 is hardly any age either.

And even worse for his family for him to be so far from home.

Wow. I'm not exactly a fan of his music but 65 is too young to die. Loved the duet he did with Marc Almond (I think) when I was a kid.

A lot of jokes are. Your point? If it wasn't for jokes like that people who have nothing better to do other than get offended by everything would have nothing to complain about.

I don't think it is really... to be honest it was one of my first thoughts and I'm sure it wasn't said to be deliberately controversial.

What a trouper he was. Still touring.

Cardiff is a great place. There's more to it than just the main streets.

Yesterday I was trying to sing that song I m Gonna be Strong. I love singing a dramatic song like that - the way the last line rises in a crescendo - and seeing whether I can get that last high note - cry-y-yeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....

I guess you mean "you hope", as it is pretty naff to make jokes about someone dying before their "time".

Well it is better than where you went to school, IMO.

This sad news has reminded me of one of the great misunderstandings of my childhood. I was 6 when 24 Hours From Tulsa was a hit, and I suppose the love triangle the song is about was just a bit too much for a six year old to comprehend. I thought the line in the song 'one day away from your arms' was actually 'one day away from your aunt'! I think I imagined a man away on a business trip who was intending to stay with his lover's aunt who happened to live near to where he was going.
I can't remember how old I was when I finally got this sorted out in my mind, but it's one of those silly things from childhood that I have never forgotten.

When I see the word "aunt" I sometimes wonder if it is, in fact, a simple typing error ...
