Sharpe's Challenege

The award-winning Sharpe, which propelled Sean Bean to Hollywood stardom as the famous adventure hero, returns for an action packed, swashbuckling special, shot entirely on location in India. Sharpe's Challenge will be available to buy as a two disc DVD for the first time from 1 May 2006.

Sharpe was a critical and commercial hit when it first aired in the UK in the 1990's. Each episode attracted regular audiences of 10 million, and Sean Bean has since starred in numerous blockbusters including The Lord of The Rings movie series, Troy and the James Bond film Golden Eye. The series was rumoured to have ended with Sharpe's Waterloo, but the cast will be reunited again in Sharpe's Challenge. Joining our dashing hero will his best friend Sgt. Harper (Daragh O'Malley), his villainous henchman Colonel Dodd (Toby Stephens) and the beautiful Madhuvanthi (Padma Lakshmi).

Two years after the Duke of Wellington crushes Napoleon at Waterloo, there is news from India of a local Maharaja, Khande Rao, who is threatening British interests there. Wellington sends Sharpe to investigate on what turns out to be his most dangerous mission to date. When a beautiful general's daughter is kidnapped by the Indian warlord, the tension mounts, leaving Sharpe no option but to pursue the enemy right into his deadly lair. Deep in the heart of enemy territory he also has to keep at bay the beautiful but scheming Regent, Madhuvanthi, who is out to seduce him. The fate of an Empire and the life of a General's daughter lie in one man's hands…….

Definitely looking forward to this. I loved Sharpe. ITV can definitely give us great drama when they want to.

I think I might invest in the entire DVD boxset one day, I used to adore the programme.
