Harrods

Has anyone here been to Harrods ?

Im going next weekend, but i have heard there is a serious dress code. I have looked online at their website, but it isnt mentioned.

Im hoping to be able to wear jeans .... but maybe im now allowed

Anyway - will i enjoy the place ? Im literally just going for the experience.

I imagine it's fairly lax but you could have looked up Harrods dress code and found this:

Quote:
It is our aim to make the experience of shopping at Harrods a pleasurable one in every respect. To this end a dress code has been introduced which has been widely welcomed by our customers. The code does not permit any person entering the store who is wearing ripped jeans, high cut Bermuda or beach shorts, swimwear, bare midriffs, athletic singlets, cycling shorts, bare feet, flip flops or thong sandals, dirty or unkempt clothing or any extremes of personal presentation.

Yeah, you can wear jeans, as long as they aren't ripped.

I would actually recommend Selfridges of Lberty's instead of Harrods (personally) but its still a great experience and the food hall is gorgeous

I dropped in there last time I was in London and it cost £7 to park for 2 hours next door!

It's not all that great IMO. Lots of expensive stuff, but just a department store really. The food courts are the best bit, maybe worth spending a bit of time there!

I think jeans are ok, but men are not allowed to be topless, and women I believe must cover their shoulders, perhaps you should check out their website to be sure.

I don't wish to spoil your trip but I think Harrods is the most overrated shop of them all. It's full of overpriced stock and tacky souvenir items with the name 'Harrods' adorning them.

Harrods is supposably (sic) the shop that sells everything. Absolute lies. I went in once and asked in which aisle I could find the jellybabies and they didn't sell them. If someone could tell Mo next time they see him to stock them I would appreciate it.

Harvey Nicks is better by far IMO. Harrods is for tourists, really.

God, I'm such a tourist

I used to work with a man who liked to think he was posh, and he always called Harrods "the poor mans Fortnum and Mason". Of course, I always called him an arse, but that's another story.......

Well, maybe i should check out Selfridges too ?

Basically i used to work in London, but i have never been to Harrods. The friend i am going with has never been to London so we are doing the touristy bit as well.

I only tend to go back to the City about once a year now, so i want to make the most of it.

Definitely go, it is worth it if only to say you've been to Harrods. The food hall is fantastic though and make sure you buy something just to get the Harrods bag. Harvey Nicks is down the road so you can pop in there for much more eclectic stuff.

I refuse to go back to Selfridges as they were rude and horrible when I was in.

Bloody hell! I know I haven;t been to london for a month or so but last time I was the London Eye was outside County Hall on the South Bank.

I'd never have believe it would fit inside Harrods - they must have had to take the roof off!
