'Digital Spy: The Soap Opera' Episodes 6-10

Episode 6: Relight My Fire

Previously…

>Jason threw Champagne out…
>Anna and Amy arrived…
>Leyla confirmed her abortion as Yakutz woke up…

After ten hours of having Yakutz being back in the real world, Leyla still can’t make a decision on whether or not to have the abortion. Although she had told her sister that it was all going ahead, the waking of her husband has changed it all. She sits on the hard floor in the corridor and thinks things over one more time. She tries to picture life with Yakutz and the baby. She tries to picture life with Yakutz and no baby. Then she suddenly remembers the warning she was given from her sister. “This could be the one shot you get at being a mother,” she had said, “Do you really want to let it go?” Leyla thinks about hiring extra help – a nanny for the baby or a carer for Yakutz. She is determined to have this baby whether it is easy or not. After confirming the decision to herself, Leyla enters Yakutz’s ward and sits by his bedside. She wakes him and delivers the good news: “We’re going to have this baby, darling. We are going to have this baby!” she cries, squeezing his hand. Yakutz smiles at her, but hasn’t the energy to speak. Leyla is tapped on the shoulder and when she turns around, she sees Yakutz’s doctor standing there with a clipboard and a sympathetic look on his face. “What is it?” she asks, worried.
“I’m afraid I have some bad news for you, Mrs Taylor.”

While Leyla and Yakutz are delivered the news that will change their lives forever, Conrad makes another call to Champagne’s mobile. It consistently switches to her answering machine, leaving Jason more and more worried each time he calls her. “Come on, Jason, I’ll help you find her,” encourages Lucia, presenting him with a hot mug of tea.
“You’re a real friend, Lucia, I really value your support,” he smiles. “But, I’m just so worried about Champagne – where is she?”
“I really don’t know where she is, but I know she’ll be back soon – you mark my words.” Lucia makes a quick visit to The Green Grocers and on her way back sees a fragile-looking Champagne stumbling out of a back street. She begins to run over, but stops herself – she knows that with Champagne out of the picture, Jason is all hers.

Over at Chubbler and Rob’s flat, Anna arrives with a large bag of cash for Chubbler. With Chubbler at work and Rob waiting at Digibar for her, she places the bag under the stairs and makes her way to the door. As she posts her key through the letterbox, Chubbler arrives and gives her a scare. “What did you do that for?” she yells,
“Just a bit of fun – calm down…” he patronises.
“Don’t you tell me to calm down or you can forget about that cash!” she warns him.
“Cash? Where is it?” he asks, intrigued.
“I hid it under the stairs like you said. Now if you don’t mind, I’m off to see your brother.”
“Why?” Chubbler questions.
“Because he isn’t a useless waste of space like you! And if you must know, we are having lunch.”
“You’ve never loved me have you? He’s always been your golden boy.”
“I’ve always liked him more than you. But, I’ve always loved you more – the first-born always gets more love,” she smiles.
“So you do love me then?” he asks, grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
“Of course I love you! I’ve had my doubts, but you don’t half make a good con,” she winks. “I’ll see you around. And make sure that money goes towards the business – you hear?”

After serving Rob and Anna their meals, Louise takes a small break before Pete sees her slacking. While she flicks through her magazine, she notices a familiar face sat at table 6. Louise drops her magazine in shock and stares at the man. Pete storms over and tells her to take some orders. Louise rushes over to table 6 and tells the man to leave. “Leave? I don’t think so, Louise. You owe me money!” he says, angered.
“You don’t understand,” she whispers, “This is my brother’s business and he doesn’t need the likes of you on the premises.”
“What are you trying to say?” he asks, squeezing her arm, “I’ve been clean for three months now – and you’ve been dodging me ever since!”
“I’ve got no money – honestly.”
“Don’t make me laugh – you’re loaded.”
“I’ve spent all my money and I haven’t got a penny to my name!” Louise insists, struggling to get her arm out of his clench.
“Next time I see you, I want every single penny!” he warns. The man stands up, pushes Louise out of the way and leaves Digibar.

The Vincent family have spent the night packing up their belongings and squeezing them into the car. Tom and Fubs haven’t had a winks sleep and are ready to move to their new flat. With Tom and Kim out and about and not a glimpse of Amy since they paid for her cab fare, the couple decide to leave the children a notice on the front door. They sit in the car and turn on the engine when a police man taps on the window. Tom gets out of the car and sees that Amy is with the copper. He is worried about what has happened to her, but is soon relieved to hear that she was only found sleeping on a park bench. The police man says Amy is ‘all his’ and makes his way back to the station. Tom suddenly realises that Amy will be a huge problem to the family.

Britney and Sahara are discharged from the hospital and make their way home in Britney’s less-that-practical sports car. They pull up outside the flats and are swarmed by photographers. Britney puts a thin sheet over the baby’s carry-case and makes her way indoors. As soon as she gets inside, she realises that fame isn’t all it is cracked-up to be. She calls her agent and begins to cry over the phone. “You won’t believe what has just happened!” she wails.

While Britney pours her heart out, Kim tells Shane and Adam that she is going to see the new flat. The boys are left alone and Adam tells Shane how sorry he is about everything that has happened. Shane tries to ignore Adam, but can’t. Adam grabs Shane’s crotch and tries to kiss him. Shane pushes him away, but the chemistry mixed with the temptation is just too much for Shane to bear and he kisses Adam passionately…

A good episode as was the one previously.

What is the connection between my character (Jason) and Lucia?

Also who is this new addition to my family in relation to me?

Firstly, thanks for your positive feedback.

Secondly, Lucia (the gold-digger of Spyton) has managed to weave her way into your house after a bust-up with her husband, Conrad. A slight similarity to the Izzy/Paul story in Neighbours if anyone watches, Watch this space and see how this storyline progresses...

Finally, Lauren Hilton is your devious ex-wife. She arrives when the whole Champagne storyline really kicks off. She and Lucia have a lot in common, but will not realise it...

Departures

I can now confirm that at least six major characters will leave 'Digital Spy: The Soap Opera'. Currently, the writing team have come up with this list:

>Notard
>Steph
>Jack
>Savana
>Steve
>Adam

Once we have seen the arrivals of the other characters, we will have a total cast number of 28. We are looking at possibly axing more characters due to the amount of episodes, scenes, cast members and families. I will confirm other departures if and when they have been decided...

I'll see - we already have a singer (Louise) and a footballer would to too common , so an actor may be just right...

Remember that 'The Soap Opera' if a fictionl show. We have never heard of Louise Henson (the talent show runner-up), Britney Sky (the kiss-and-tell girl), Chris Turner (the TV actor) or Julia Turner (his glamarous wife)...

Episode 7: The Disappearing Act

Previously…

>Louise was paid an unwelcome visit from an old ‘friend’…
>Britney masked Sahara with a blanket to keep her being unseen…
>Adam and Shane shared the night together…

After lying awake for a couple of minutes, Shane props himself up with his arm and gazes at a sleeping Adam. He strokes Adam’s head for a few moments before Adam opens his eyes. At first, he doesn’t realise that it is Shane running his fingers through his hair, forgetting what had happened the night before. Adam suddenly recollects the events that happened and springs out of his bed like a pressured coil. “Get out!” he yells at an astonished Shane.
“What do you mean?” asks Shane, puzzled.
“Are you deaf or something? I said get out!” he repeats.
“You didn’t say that last night…” reminds Shane. Adam grabs Shane by the arm and drags him from the bed.
“Get your clothes and get out of my bedroom! If Britney sees you, we’re done for.”
“Okay, okay, I’m going…” he sighs. After fumbling around for his discharged clothes, Shane slips into them and makes his way to the door. “Before I go, I thought I’d ask if you knew what you’d given me…” says Shane.
“Given you? I don’t get you…” Adam replies, curiously.
“It’s called syphilis – it’s an STD. You should get yourself checked out – it’s a killer.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” bluffs Adam. “If you’ve caught something from one of your gay boys, you can’t shift the blame onto my plate…”
“Oh please, my ‘gay boys’? You must be joking – you’re the first and last person I’ve ever slept with. And don’t go making excuses – I’ve researched it. Just wait until Kim finds out about all this…” threatens Shane.
“Please, Shane, don’t tell her – I’m begging you!”
“She’ll have to find out from someone – it’s either you or me.”
“Fine, I’ll tell her – now go!” orders Adam.

While Adam tries to clear his conscience, Savana makes sure she is entirely focussed on forging a close friendship with Tinalou for her ‘job’. She calls Tinalou and proposes they go out for an early brunch. After slapping on some makeup and dressing in her glamorous attire, she sets out to 11 Diamond Close. When Savana arrives, Tinalou is ready and raring to go, unaware of Savana’s actual intentions. They are seated at Digibar and chat before their meals arrive. “I wasn’t exactly friendly when we first met, so I thought I’d make things up over brunch,” Savana lies.
“You’re such a beautiful woman Savana, you have such a beautiful personality…” Tinalou compliments.
“And you’re just so sweet – I hope we can become good friends…” adds Savana, wanting to give Tinalou an overdue slap.
“So, what brings you and Jack to Spyton?” asks Tinalou, trying to win over the woman she sees as a beauty rival.
“Well, Jack’s mother lived here not so long before she died and when we came to the will reading, we fell in love with the place.” Savana continues to make up a whole story on her history, while Tinalou takes note on Savana’s fine appearance.

Once the breakfast, brunch and lunch crowds have died down in Digibar, Louise asks for a quite word with her brother. Pete is far from happy and lectures her on time-wasting before she has time to tell him her news. “We need to leave here,” she begins. “We need to sell up and get out of here – we’re not safe.”
“Don’t be stupid, Spyton is one of the safest places to live in the UK. What did I say about wasting my time?” Pete asks, unimpressed.
“You don’t understand – everyone else is safe, but we’re not! I’ve had some dodgy dealings in the past and yesterday there was this guy I know, asking for money…” Louise explains.
“If you’ve got problems that don’t concern me, you shouldn’t get me involved…”
“He’d bad news, Pete – very bad news!” she warns.
“I don’t have time for this – you’re a bloody time timewaster!” Pete storms out of the office and leaves Louise alone.

Over at the Hilton household, Jason is just leaving to go to the police station. Lucia waves him off and pours herself a mug of tea. After just sitting down and watching the TV, the doorbell rings. She opens it to see a huge bouquet of red roses and an envelope. After filling up a small part of the sink with water, Lucia places the roses in and opens the envelope. A letter drops onto the floor. She sits down at the table and begins to read. It is a love letter about roses – 100 roses meaning the 100% commitment ‘he’ feels for her. She believes it is from Jason, but when she sees the name at the bottom, she gasps in horror – it is from Conrad.

Britney decides to take Sahara out for a walk to send her off to sleep. As they cross the quiet streets, Britney notices a group of old women stood on the corner of one of the streets. They are whispering, gasping and looking at Britney. She smiles, believing they are admiring her fame – Britney is met with dirty looks and open mouths. After forgetting the women, she makes her way to The Green Grocers to collect a paper. More people seem to be gossiping about her, and Britney becomes self-conscious about herself. She arrives at the till and takes her purse from the pram. “You don’t know, do you?” asks the girl behind the till.
“Know what?” asks Britney, puzzled. The girl flicks to page 6 to reveal the headline ‘Unfit Mother!’ – a picture of Britney holding Sahara’s carry-cot with a blanket over the top is set underneath the title.

At Spyton Police Department, Jason arrives and reports Champagne as missing. The police officer takes details on his daughter and gives Jason a sorry look afterwards. “What is it?” asks Jason, worried.
“I’m afraid we have found the body of a young girl, matching the description of your daughter…” explains the police officer. Jason bursts into tears and is asked to wait in the reception. After almost an hour in tears, the police officer returns and leads Jason into a room. There is a bed laid in the middle of the room, with a covered body on top. After a warning, the cover is lifted away to reveal a young girl. Jason bursts into tears once more. “Is it her?” asks the officer.
“No, no it’s not!” he cries.

The time has come to close Digibar and Pete has given Louise the orders to lock up. As she switches out the lights, a hand covers her mouth and another hold her hands together. “You’ve been a very bad girl, haven’t you?” asks the voice. She nods, realising it is ‘The Dealer’. He tightly ties pieces of cloth around her mouth, arms and ankles, before bundling her out of an open window and into a van. He switches on the alarm, climbs through the window and closes the window behind him. ‘The Dealer’ jumps into the driver's seat and heads out of Spyton, while Louise struggles frantically to escape…
