At every venue by the looks of it. I think the theatres chosen for Andys tour were a tad ambitious just yet. Journey South are doing smaller venues aren't they?

Does this mean Andy's venues aren't selling very well then? Is the Albert Hall one soon? I always get the impression that Andy just doesn't have the fandom any more to sell well, I could be wrong though.

JS are doing a theatre tour, but some of the venues are larger than the ones Andy is doing, and some are smaller.

I don't know why they chose such venues for Andy's tour, it doesn't really make sense. He's doing something like 14 dates, with plenty of tickets still available.

JS have had to keep on adding dates, to keep up with the demand. Their tour now takes in 39 dates.

Andy is doing the venues that the really big stars do who are not quite big enough for arena gigs.

Russell Watson, who's sold zillions of albums, is doing the exact same venues, in fact a couple less than Andy.

That is the calibre of artist that will sell out a tour like that. Andy has a nice voice, but as yet, he's still just a runner up on a tv talent show, who got lucky selling a large quantity of albums off the back of that show, combined with Mothers Day.
You'd have to be a true fan to pay that sort of money to see what will probably be an evening of Andy singing covers.

Dont understand why there are additional venues for JS when there are loads of cheap tickets on Ebay which aren't even getting offers

SYCO appear to have made mis-judgements in terms of venues for both Shayne & Journey South. JS - they seem to have underestimated demand which has meant that they are having to do so many shows in smaller venues. Shayne overestimated demand - the gaps between arena shows is going to be expensive as they are going to have hired all the crew / facilities etc. Better judgement would have meant better revenue for record company but more importantly artist.

I have just done a quick check on Ticketmaster - all of them have blocks of up to eight tickets available for JS concerts. Only two are circle (Row B in one case) Stall seats are available in blocks of eight in stalls rows F, K and L in three others. I don't understand why new venues are being added when there are still so many tickets unsold

Maybe they are trying to create the illusion of high demand for tickets, just to push the sales in general. I mean, it's easy for them to cancel a gig if there aren't enough bums on seats to make it pay. I've seen it happen with other acts, so it may happen in this instance.

How odd. You would have thought that they would want to ensure that all venues are a sell out rather than partially fill a greater number.

It's all about creating an illusion of popularity to hopefully pull other people in.

I think that it is telling that both the Official Journey South and the Unofficial Journey sites only have 856 and 809 members respectively. If they had a large, loyal following, I would have expected there to be a considerably bigger membership than that. Whilst I realise they have sold healthy numbers of their first album, one has to wonder if they will have sustainable popularity in the long term.

I have noticed comments that have been made by DJs on various radio programmes which suggest that they are not considered 'cool' and whilst that isn't the end of the world, airplay does help considerably when it comes to getting your music into public awareness, especially if you want a single to chart high. As is usual, I have no doubt that the 'faithful' will be buying multiple copies to try and push the single up the chart. But even that is an empty victory if you can't persuade Joe Public to genuinely buy into it.

Sometimes people with avid fan bases get extra nights added on the false premise that all the fans phoning madly to the ticket offices asking for more dates to be added indicates that there is greater demand than there actually is. I'm not saying this is what's happening here but I'm sure it does. I suppose they just quietly cancel if viable numbers don't materialize and try to keep it out of the press.

Andy's concert's not until 7 November so no need for panic just yet. Other earlier dates at the Hall are already sold out but they are for established acts with large national and international fan bases.

Only some acts have fan bases that will travel around the country or even to the nearest big town to see them.

Besides, as I said with Andy's gig, many of the dates for JS are still six months away.
