Very interesting, thanks for this! I live near Heathrow and can vouch for the temperature here. Ewch. Makes me miserable.

Weather is terribly interesting ... I'm a bit worried though, because some of those termperatures are dangerously high. I wonder if something bad will happen?

Its so hot at the moment! I had to play a proper 90 minute football match yesterday (in midfield!) after having done no exercise for about two months and slightly hungover. Got so burnt and almost threw up, bring back the rain, all is forgiven! (not really)

Glad people find itinteresting, just to add, the heatwave warning has been increased to Level 3.
I'm sure this is the first year though there has even been such a thing as a heatwave warning issued by the metoffice and 2003 was hotter than this reaching 38C.

Well...basically we needed to change platforms and had a crapload of luggage with us. We get in the lift, the door closes and we press the platform button (logic dictating we get taken to where we can change platform, the only other button was airport). The doors open again at the same place and everyone is staring at us. So we try again, we press platform, the doors close, nothing happens for 30 seconds so we press platform again. Again the doors open on the same spot and im just standing there p*ssing myself laughing as everyone is still staring at us, we repeated this about 5 or 6 times before it clicked that we had to press the "airport" button to go there and then traverse across it I blame the heat!!

The looks on some of the peoples faces were funny though...i probably didnt help matters by every time the door opened and we were in the same place i was in a bigger laughing state than the last time.

Do you know if the emergency services are working extra shifts and the army has been put on standby in case things get any worse?
I'm a bit worried

Whilst in my car earlier today the temp gauge got to 87 degrees which I believe is approx 30.5 degrees. Thankfully the car has air con but there's a lovely breeze outside now in Essex.

I sense sarcasm

I know it's all common sense, but they have to warn you about everything these days

I don't have air con, and the windows down all the way did nothing to make it any cooler in the midday sun, was just hot air coming in

I think it will cool down on Thursday, the max temp then will be 25C/77F in the South East, a high chance of torrential downpours and thunderstorms are likely, so will clear the air
16C - 23C elsewhere.

Well that's good to know! 25C is reasonable enough. I don't know why but it ALWAYS seems to be hotter in London than anywhere else in the UK.

Is that a reference to the weather, or are you taking this off-topic?
(You'd better be careful or it might end up in chatter! )
