Do Leanne and Greg share the same mum in Corrie?

I don't know if you all remember Greg in Coronation Street who Sally had a fling with. Nasty piece of work who is Les Battersbys son?

I got thinking about him today and was wondering if he was Leannes half brother or did they share the same mum? Also had Leanne left the street when he was in it? I can't remember them having any scenes together.

Greg is Leanne's half-brother. Greg's mum is Moira Kelly. Leanne's mum is unknown.

As has been said before, it would be good if Leanne's mum came in for a few episodes. Leanne doesn't mention her much, the only thing I can remember her saying is that her mum cleared off when she was three, and that she has always thought of Janice as her mum.

It seems to me that Leanne sees Janice as a friend rather than a mum. If Janice is like a mother to her, why doesn't Leanne call her "Mum"?

cause she see's her as a mum - with the loving (which janice mentioned on sunday) and the looking after but she isn't her mum. it's just like jamie and Frankie. you don't call someone mum just cause they act like it!

I've never thought that Leanne saw Janice as a Mum, but its very clear that Janice is the closest person to Leanne, even closer than Danny. She's the person Leanne always confides in.

Of course not, but I would have thought in Leanne's case she would call Janice "Mum". Janice obviously came into Leanne's life when she was really young, and young kids are more likely to call a step-parent "Mum" or "Dad".

Leanne was 3. well it's like you do - if you were used to your mum as a baby - when you are learning your words you are not likely to get confused and call someone else your mum for no reason, it would confuse Leanne's little brain! She would of seen Janice as her dad's friend until she was old enough to understand!
End of this Janice - mum conversation!

Thanks!! I had a feeling that Greg did not have the Battersby surname but I could not remember what it was. I say bring Greg back just for a few weeks to stir things up a bit!!!!

I don't think Leanne really "needs" a real mother.

We've seen it a thousand times before, I can't see what it would really do for Leanne if her mother was to turn up.

"Where were you all my life?"
"You walked out on us remember"
"You're supposed to be my mother"

I agree 100%. The character of Miss Leanne does not need her real mother. She is as independent as they come and is a strong enough character. What i like about her character though is that she does have a vulnerable side, which we rarely see but it does slip out at times (like when she sat with Janice complaining about her lack of friends).

Leanne has Les! That may sound comical but they have shared touching moments in the past and they are really good scenes as it also brings another side to Les.

Moreover, Leanne shows no inclination that she wants to know who her real mother is nor does she ever even mention her.

Yep. Again, agree 100%.

The Les/Leanne partnership is a strange one. While Les is now predominantly a "comic" character, Leanne always brings a more realistic facet to Les. I do enjoy Les & Leanne.

Next question - what should Miss Leanne do when she returns to the Street?

I would like her to stay single for a bit, to show that she is a strong character. I personally think along with Eileen she is the strongest female in the show. Maybe we could see her try and open up her new buisness and actually bond with someone and make a friend maybe Michelle? Or Vi? Or even Eileen?

Where she confides in them about every little thing, like she does Janice cause I get the feeling Janice will be out when Steve Frost leaves

Maybe her and Maria could team up and try and open a Salon together, I know they have never seen eye to eye but their relationship is intresting and Maria needs more screen time

I don't know why they didn't just make the baby part of the storyline.

I think its good that Leannes mother has never surfaced - it's such an overused soap plot, to seek out the missing parent: Jamie finding Carol, Ashley meeting Kathleen, Toyah seeking out her Dad, Jason seeking out his Dad; Ashley finding out Fred was his Dad and Beryl his Auntie not his Mum, Danny finding out Mike was his Dad, Gordon Clegg finding out Betty was his mum and Maggie his aunt not vice versa, Tracey finally meeting Ray etc etc ad-infinitem, Bet's illegitimate son Martin downs seeking her out....

Hmm that is a good question, i have not even given it a thought as i am too busy thinking about this superb exit storyline that is coming up for her and ultimately for Danny as well.

I am just hoping the the exit DOES involve lot's of characters (dare i say it even Barn Door) as i always enjoy storylines that involve lot's of characters.

I am gonna seriously miss her.

On her return i want her to come back as strong and independent as ever. I want her to create a few 'waves' through Weatherfield as well. Not sure quite how though. I am not overly keen on her setting up a business as there are too many as it is, but she need's to have a strong link with the Street somehow otherwise she would have no realistic reason to stay in the area otherwise.

Perhaps she could hatch some sort of plan to bring down Danny (when Bradley Walsh returns), which will presumably be after Jane Danson has returned herself.

As for that i am short of ideas and specifics!

Maybe it's the generation thing. Janice can't be more than about 13 years older than Leanne. I remember Janice talking about going to a concert in 1981 when she was 14, I think I worked out at the time that that made her 14 or 15 when she had Toyah. No-one has mentioned this to my knowledge though.

From Corrie.net:

Full name: Janice Battersby (née Lee)
Parents:
Born: 1965 or 1968

Full name: Leanne Aneka Battersby (née Battersby, previously Tilsley)
Parents: Les Battersby
Born: 2 July 1981

Full name: Toyah Laverne Battersby
Parents: Janice Lee and Ronnie Clegg
Born: 28 May 1982
