Problem since setting up new equipment

Guys, I need some advice.

For ages now I've stuck by my Daewoo DS608P freeview box and my trusty indoor aerial along with signal amp for my DTT reception, which has been fine. However, a few days ago I ordered myself the TUTV1 Matsui box so that I had the option to make use of topup tv (and so that I could give my mum my Daewoo box to replace her crappy Sagem one).

I set up my new (Matsui) box up this morning to find the signal appalling. I fiddled about with my existing indoor aerial, amp and connections (which had all been more than adequate for my Daewoo Setpal, seeing as I'm only about 5-7miles from the Crystal Palace transmitter) my checks seemed to make no difference to reception at all.

So, reluctantly I went out and got myself a posh new digital loft/roof aerial this afternoon from Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5341829.htm) and spent several hours getting it all set up in my loft. I followed the instructions to the word and it's not a particularly hard job anyway... BUT, when I plugged the new aerial into my Matsui box, I didn't get what I'd expected (perfect, crisp lovely channels) but instead, I got exactly the same as my set top aerial managed to produce. Multiplex A is particularly bad though.

My question is - what should I do next? I can't see anything physical wrong with my installation and I've tried making changes, but these don't improve reception at all...?

Any suggestions would be great,
Thanks in advance!

To state the obvious perhaps you just have a faulty box; sounds like you have a good case for an exchange.

I would exchange it if possible.

In my experience the Matsui does have a good tuner...but have only compared it to the Grundig GDT1500....The Matsui received the channels, the Grundig didn't....on the same aerial

Hmmm... I've actually just sorted this problem... I'm over the moon  but at the same time am amazed by how easily the Matsui box was affected in this way...

I (as a very long-shot) unplugged my cordless NTL phone from it's mains scoket nearby the Matsui box. The second I did this, bam - Signal quality right upto the top and all-round perfect reception!

Strange - So anyone with cordless phones nearby freeview quipment, try moving them further away, could boost your signal?!!

Top stuff...!
