Reception in Kent

Just wondering if anyone has any 1st hand experience with what Freeview reception is like in Kent.

I live in Ashford, and we have never had a chance of recieving Channel 5 on analogue round here due to our proximity to the Channel, and what with the postcode checkers being so un-reliable and all thought I would see if anyone near here recieves Freeview?! Think we get our signal from Bluebell Hill in Folkstone?!

I'm sure I've seen DTT STB's on show in a couple of local stores, but they only ever seem to be showing shopping channels!...is this a tell-tell sign of poor reception?!

QVC and TV Travel Shop are on the SDN mux (mux A) and a lot of transmitters which were upgraded recently increased the power on all muxes, except mux A. Also muxes 2 and A are still using 64 QAM and not 16 QAM, which is a more robust transmission system.

So, it isn't necessarily an indication of poor reception.

Bluebell Hill would be the transmitter to try first.

If you're using a group E aerial, you'll need to change it for a group W.

I am rather surprised. I would try Dover as well. There are some nasty bad reception spots in mid Kent though.
