New for BBC3 - celebrity hairdressing!

Just flashed on Media Guardian.

(From the BBC Press Release)

"Entertainment is a key priority for the channel, and this season kicks that off with a two-week reality event in aid of BBC Children in Need.

Under the tutelage of a top-name hairdresser, a group of celebrities will spend the two weeks prior to the big night in November training in all aspects of hair, beauty, make-up and fashion.

On the night, they will be let loose on the stars taking part in Children in Need. Who knows what the results will be? "

Hmmmm ...

The celebrity crimpers will spend the fortnight before Children in Need night in November undergoing intensive training in a specially built reality TV studio in BBC Television Centre.

On the night, they will apply the slap and handle the curling tongs for the presenters and guests taking part in BBC1's annual charity bash.

BBC3 will screen live behind-the-scenes coverage of the event, complementing BBC1's front-of-house show.

In the two weeks running up to the charity event, BBC3 will broadcast live, one-hour daily updates on how the celebrities are progressing in their training.

Endemol will make the programme and the Big Brother executive producers, Phil Edgar-Jones and Sharon Powers, will oversee the production.

"In the run-up to Children in Need, there will be stripped, one-hour reality shows each night," said the BBC3 controller, Julian Bellamy.

"Then, on Children in Need night, you will be able to see the normal event on BBC1 and you can flick over to BBC3 to go behind the scenes."

Wow...people getting their hair done....I know that it is for charity, but this doesn't exactly seem to be the best entertaining of events.

Reminds me of a programme that ITV1 did a few years back called 'How Do I Look' except this time with celebs and does sound like something off ITV's daytime schedule.

How many celebrity shows is there every year in the name of Children In Need or Comic Releif?

Everyone says "it's for charity so it's ok", but it seems like an excuse to get more on.

What annoys me is that they get rid of Fame Academy, which was actually quite educational, and replace it with this all this rubbish instead.

Agreed - and I would have thought that another run of Celebrity Fame Academy would have been better
