The 'Things about Imogen they never showed you!' Thread - Big Brother

Here’s some things the C4 show didn’t show you about Imogen which have misled the audience. This is some of the key stuff that I can remember that really should have been put in the show.

1. After the fight with Richard, Richard later went to the Diary room to tell BB he had decided to quit the show. During this time Sezer was saying that he didn’t want to talk to Richard any more and as far as he was concerned he didn’t exist in the house. Richard told the group he had decided go. While his closest friends in the house stood around, Imogen on her own and despite Sezer’s wishes went up to him and talked a tearful Richard out of leaving the show. Richard even thanked her for it later that night and this is the main reason he invited her to the dinner. – This was never shown, what was shown was Richard upset talking to Pete and Pete making the ‘tourette’s in context joke. Very misleading.

2. Imogen during a conversation with Nikki told her that she thought she was a bit spoilt at times and admitted to talking about her in the diary room. – This was never shown. Very misleading as it shows Imogen as 2 faced.

3. The night Aisleyne sorted her differences out with Imogen.
Imogen went to the diary room and had a whinge about Ash. Not long after that she went to bed. Aisleyne said she wanted to make her piece with Imogen as she too had started to dislike her. Aisleyne woke Imogen up and they both went to the kitchen.
At that point Imogen told Aisleyne what she had originally thought of her at the beginning. She admitted she and the other girls used to take the p*ss about her a*se always hanging out and she admitted to having a bitch about her in the diary room. Aisleyne put forward a few things she originally thought about Imogen and the two sorted out their differences. Like the Susie nomination Imogen said despite her not getting along with Richard or Lea there was no reason for them not to be friends. – That was not shown. What was shown was Imogen bitching in the Diary room and then talking and being nice to Ash in the kitchen. Misleading as it gives the impression that Imogen was being 2 faced.

3. The conversation with Pete.
Pete was upset and feeling unresponsive. Imogen decided to talk to him. The conversation started awkwardly at first but she told him that she used to stutter quite badly when she was younger and that she needed speech therapy to talk properly. Pete told her he also had a stutter and they both talked about therapy and coping mechanisms. She pointed out some of the coping mechanisms that she noticed Pete using and recognised the things he did to sort his head out. She admitted that it was something that affects her confidence today even though it’s at a lesser extent. She said she was nervous to begin with but came out of her shell later on. Pete said it was the other way around for him. It was a nice little chat that made them connect. Lea mentioned to Imogen that Pete was singing her praises and that she really made him feel special. – That was never shown. They showed the first part of the conversation which was a bit awkward which gave the impression that Imogen’s intentions were not quite sincere and that Pete was uncomfortable with her and they missed out the main bulk of the conversation about them connecting over speech problems. Again misleading.

4. Imogen sticking up for Susie.
Mikey was going about how Susie can’t take a joke
Imogen told him she could take a joke but that she was a lot older than them and that it wasn’t as if she got upset or anything.
Mikey kept saying yes she did and that she was p*ssed off about the draw swapping joke.
Imogen told him “No she wasn’t, I was there and she didn’t get upset at all!”
Mikey kept on and Imogen cut him short again and told him he was trying to make something out of nothing. This was done without Susie present so it wasn’t for her benefit and it was only said to her closest friend Mikey not infront of an audience.– this was never shown. They showed her say one sentence that was so muted that it almost sounded like she was agreeing. Misleading.

There’s a ton of things that Imogen has done and said throughout the series that were interesting, funny and good natured and most of them were actually part of the current storyline. There’s no excuse for any of these things not to be shown other than to mislead the audience. The publics vote is based on the C4 show, so to portray some housemates and their actions inaccurately IS controlling the outcome of the vote and is Public manipulation.. Whats the point of voting if the information we’re given is false? It's one thing to condense things down for the show it's another to completely cut one persons entire contribution to the house and misinturpret everything they do or say. I can't imagine anyone can say thats ok! For it to happen a few times fair enough. For it to happen every time and on every show is intentional.

Any Imo fans want to add things they’ve witnessed (funny, interesting) that have been purposely cut from the show. Feel free to add to this thread!

I know a few people who have been watching Live feed and have said that alot of things that Imogen has done have been editted to make her seem boring!
Why have they done it?

Agree with the OP. Another point would be Ash's and Ims chat after the showdown between Ash and Lea. Ash said that Lea said that Ims had slagged off Ash On the LF Ims admitted this as Ash and Ims have discussed it several time and have gotten over it, but denied that she had said anything bad recently, which is totally true. On the HL all they showed was Ims denying that she had slagged off Ash, making her look 2-faced when she was infact being completely honest.

It's a shame, i've noticed some of the things you point out too and i'm not happy about it as i like Imogen.

....and there are others who are so bad, but they won't show you all the bad bits.

They also miss out the times when Richard has been unresponsive and dismissive when she speaks to him.
Not showing this makes her dislike of him look random and irrational.

I don't hate imo just indifferent to her and had certainly been hoodwinked into believing the boring theory.

Don't forget her excellent acting during the Jerry Springer type mock up the HM's did "Scouse Talk" or whatever they called it - I was amazed that they didn't show any of this (but then we were suffering the Nikki show at the time). Imogen and Pete were hilarious together.

I think she can be quite funny at times. Thought when she tricked Jayne into thinking she was going to Australia was amusing. Don't understand why it wasn't shown.

Also they mistranslated her last night, which while leaving out a housemates best bits, in order to typecast them as boring is bad, putting words in their mouth is unforgivable.

I like Imogen because she is simply being yourself, and as alivefeed watcher she is quite interesting, although I can completely understand why HL watchers might find her boring.

I think she would really have suited some of the earlier series when people weren't expected to be overdramatic.

Any idiot could tell that the subtext to Imogen's chat with Glyn, in Welsh, did not match her facial expressions or her tone.

It is not simply a matter of mistranslation, in my book, as it becomes obvious that the whole scene was carefully sculptered and presented to add words that Imogen did not say.

A translator may make mistakes by not understanding the context and by not seeing ones facial expressions, but an interpreter would never make such a mistake. The whole scene was contrived to make Imogen look over confident, something they know the public dislike. The truth of this "deliberate" action is that Imogen's chances have been dimished insofar that it is impossible to take back mud once it has been thrown.

The only thing BB can do is to bring Imogen and Glyn to the diary room to discuss the matter and to apologise to them AND to show this on the highlights programme. What they are likely to do, however, is to either ignore the issue OR they will publish 1 square inch in an obscure part of their website as an apology.

The Welsh nation have a perfect right to be outraged at the bastardisation of their language and the disrespect shown to a Welsh lass who is unaware of the misrepresentation being foisted upon her.

To be frank I'd seen the first three of those items on the live feed myself and they didn't change my opinion of Imogen as any more exciting. I'd never thought of her as much of a bitch (no more than say Glyn or Ais) but that was more dur to stuff that was shown on the H/L shows. in the first couple of weeks.

According to the Welsh speakers on the forum last night, what she actually said literally translates as "I'm for staying" and "I'm for staying for the final" Glyn then replied "I don't want you to go either". As opposed to what was shown on the HL show which was "I am staying" and "I am staying for the final" and Glyn replying "I dont want you to go".

IMHO I'm inclined to believe those on the forum, her body language didnt seem very confident and she had said to Ashleyne earlier in the day that she thought she would go.

There was once I watched the live feed and Imogen was called to the diary room. She then burst out of it laughing and shouting that she was going to Australia - this was all for Jaynes benefit, and it worked, Jayne was actually taken in before she realised it was a joke. V funny IMO.

Never shown. This is why people think Imogen is boring, they never show the fun stuff she does. BB crap editing at its worst.

surely they could find some welshies with some "spark" in them?

id be pretty pee'd off if i was welsh having those two representing my country.

also, spiral's doing no favours for ireland either.

at least dicky is doing a shining job for canada - plenty for the canadians to be proud of there.

Problem is there is something EVERY day that gets edited out thats its impossible to write them all down. You can understand some being edited for time but not all of them and to limit Imogen to the "bb romance story" or the "bitch about Richard" story. I mean I'm bored with Imogen on both those fronts but she is my fav because of the other stuff you don't see.

Key word in your post is "seem".

Any time there's a party or anything, if you watch the live feed Imogen is always good fun, gets involved with everyone, tells jokes, acts crazy.

To be honest, the person you see on the HL show is a totally different person, edited down to the most boring aspects of her. The joke on Jayne I just posted about is an example of something that was quite funny when it happened, because of how much it took Jayne in, but was never shown. There's numerous other exmples - to be honest, she's waaaay more fun than Pete has been recently, yet he's everyones favourite! What exactly does he do thats so much less boring than Imogen?!

That's why I was surprised at the "backlash", it's just people looking for any excuse. Thanks to the OP for posting these details. I quite like Imogen though I think she's a bit dull (possibly because I only watch the HLs).

As another poster said, we never got to see the Mikey Springer Show (or whatever it was called), because they thought 45 minutes of Nikki telling everyone how unjustifiably frightened she was made for better TV

It's a shame they've decided to plot some of the HMs as characters rather than just trying to show them truthfully as they are.

OK - so the highlight shows have to be four hours long and even more boring than they are already.

Is that really what you want?

This is supposed to be enterntainment, so editing is a must. Although heavy handed at times and puerile at others they have to edit the show and, as they produce it, they edit it the way they wish.

Rather than try to pitch for one particular and, imho, terribly dull housemate focus your ire on Endemol ruining a perfectly good format with lame housemates, a lame house and tediously lame tasks.

On the night of the face painting (when Pete painted his face half white, also Glyn shown the other night) Imo was pretty funny then.
She was looking up at the stars with spiral and saying something like:.

"It looks like the stars are moving but in fact its the world moving...like.... the worlds moving but the stars aren't moving. You think its the stars but its the earth...The stars move but they dont move, know wot I mean?...you just think they move but its the world like..A bit like the clouds really ...they move but..."
saying it in a daft voice and getting quicker and quicker! It was really funny and comical.

Instead they showed Glyn and Jennie lying down looking at the stars saying nothing interesting or even funny. The bit from Imogen was 20 times more entertaining than the Glyn scene.

OP, good of you to take the time to type that!
Its just another example of BB's selective editing, they do it every series (BB4 was when I noticed it being really rife & its carried on ever since) they can put people in a good light or bad as they wish, the translator last night made Imogen no favours at all.
As its a programme thats bankrolled heavily by the public votes, there should be some kind of guidelines that they should adhere to.
Bringing up an old chestnut, they never showed the clip of Cameron saying "I'd like to punch him" & "lets sh*t in his shoes" about Jon Tickle, they didnt want to dent his halo.
(shame, as it was probably the most interesting thing he said while in the house!)

Until Nikki left, I watched a lot of live feed, and I can assure you that until Sezer's eviction, Imogen did nothing but lie around with Sezer all day long. She then spent half her life bitching with Grace until she was evicted. The week she befriended Nikki after Ash was sent to the HND was the only week that Imogen came to life. Nikki and Imogen really brought the best out of each other until Ash's return.

Imogen doesn't do much other than say "yeh, babe, you're totally right babe,...".

She was looking up at the stars with spiral and saying something like:. "It looks like the stars are moving but in fact its the world moving...like.... the worlds moving but the stars aren't moving. You think its the stars but its the earth...The stars move but they dont move, know wot I mean?...you just think they move but its the world like..A bit like the clouds really ...they move but..." saying it in a daft voice and getting quicker and quicker! It was really funny and comical. Instead they showed Glyn and Jennie lying down looking at the stars saying nothing interesting or even funny. The bit from Imogen was 20 times more entertaining than the Glyn scene.

Its just another example of BB's selective editing, they do it every series (BB4 was when I noticed it being really rife & its carried on ever since) they can put people in a good light or bad as they wish, the translator last night made Imogen no favours at all. As its a programme thats bankrolled heavily by the public votes, there should be some kind of guidelines that they should adhere to. Bringing up an old chestnut, they never showed the clip of Cameron saying "I'd like to punch him" & "lets sh*t in his shoes" about Jon Tickle, they didnt want to dent his halo. (shame, as it was probably the most interesting thing he said while in the house!)

morning Banned User Join Date: Aug 2004 Posts: 13,128	Until Nikki left, I watched a lot of live feed, and I can assure you that until Sezer's eviction, Imogen did nothing but lie around with Sezer all day long. She then spent half her life bitching with Grace until she was evicted. The week she befriended Nikki after Ash was sent to the HND was the only week that Imogen came to life. Nikki and Imogen really brought the best out of each other until Ash's return. Imogen doesn't do much other than say "yeh, babe, you're totally right babe,...".
