Pete and the Diary Room

A lot of people on here accuse Pete of deliberately acting up in the diary room, but I see it in a similar way to being camera shy, where you have people who are fine, until you point a camera in their face and they become very shy. In Pete's case it's like directly facing a camera unsettles him and he becomes nervously excited, hence what we see. It's the same with people who stick their tongue out whenever they're in front of a camera, when they wouldn't do so in any other circumstance.

So it's still a change in him, but it's not calculated and pre-mediated as some think.

That is a good point

I agree, but even if it was calculated and pre-meditated, what's wrong with that?

The DR is their soapbox or their sanctuary depending on what's happening at the time. I love it when people go in there purely to work the camera. Victor, whom I couldn't stand, was a master at it. Nikki was fabulous DR fodder, and Richard is just priceless in there.

When the DR is used as a place to hide, such as Grace after hearing chants, Aisleyne after returning from the HND, Lea in tears etc. I just think "Oh, get over yourself".

I like Pete in the diary room..me and the other half always sit here giggling

Pete acknowledges the he is a perfomer by nature..so why shouldnt he show that side of his nature in the diary room.

I do agree with the OP that a lot of it a to cover his nerves..and some of it..(dare I mention it even if I think it's true)..is a method he uses to cope with his TS.

But it's not malicous and he's not trying to keep that side of him from his fellow housemates..as he is still the same when he knows it will be shown on the plasma screen.

I suppose you either like his style or you dont..but it's not really accurate to suggest it is fake.

Precisely. He is exactly the same when he is in the diary room with others (Glyn, Richard and Mikey spring to mind). Of course he was also like that when doing the parole message and that was infront of everybody.

I love Pete in the DR and it seems to be the place that he can really let himself go completely, he can be as mad as he wants. It's his place to go and hide and be as wacky as he wants as there is no-one there to judge him.

I think that pete sees the DR conversations as being confidential and therefore says things in there, as do others, that he maybe would not say elsewhere.
