Dreamcast
IMO it was the console of the 90's. It was great, but it was a shame it was a flop, no-one knew about it and SEGA f'ed up. It was the first console with internet connection and it had the next-gen graphics, but it failed.
Everyone who has played on it since it's end has said that it was great and they wished they knew about it when they did. What was your opinion on it and what was your favourite game? Virtua Tennis? Shenmue? Unreal Tournament? Soul Calibur? Quake 3? Crazy Taxi, anyone? There were loads of great games.

Unreal played like a dream, gotta mention Chu Chu Rocket and Metropolis Street Racer
a very much maligned and underated console (but it needed a Nights port) |

Still got mine too.
Personally, I still reckon this is one of the most fun driving games ever ... http://uk.gamespot.com/dreamcast/dri...it/review.html

Dreamcast
I still to this day play Powerstone 1 & 2 on my DC (can't wait for the imminent PSP conversion!
)A bootleg version of Half-Life was also made for it and the single player game actually plays better than the PS2 version. The DC is also a good console for running homebrew emulators. |

Power Stone - what a game. It was amazing. Is it due out on the PSP?
Shenmue is my favourite game of all time, as soon as I saw it in the DC Mags, I went out and bought it and played on it for hours. Shenmue II was so hard, I still don't think I've completed that one yet. |

Dreamcast
It was the first console I had that used CD's. And also the first with an internet connection (which I never used!). I had NFL Quaterback on it and also some football game (can't remember the name). Also I had Ready to Rumble 2 which was wicked..."you can't stop the thunderbolt!". i also had Sonic on it. I was a proper Sega fan, I've had all the consoles they ever released except the Saturn.

I must admit even though I have every popular console ever released it is my favourite.
Not sure how many people bought the fishing rod for it but I really liked it in a starnage sort of way, did not catch many fish though, one big one did get away |

Samba De Amigo is the top game, see how much you can get for the maracas with the UK version of the game on ebay. I think only 5000 were made, so it's proper exclusive.

It's quite fun playing fighting games with it .... Also got a gun to play stuff like house of the dead. A desert eagle with a really annoying recoil feature that the wife made me switch off within 5 minutes cos it made such an annoying racket. ![]() Never did the get the maracas though. Couldn't justify the cost for use with one game only. Even on ebay, long after the DC was discontinued, they still fetched good money. |

Twas my first console this gen (for four years) until I got bored with it and sold my whole collection - which was impressive to buy a PS2 and GC. I've since rebought one for the odd exclusive game play here and there.
Looking at this generation the DC doesn't come out on top - in fact it comes bottom of my "this gen" list (I own all this gen consoles bar PSP and Gizmondo ). While its library was unique at the time most franchises have been ported or sequeled onto other formats leaving the DC with little reason to own it let alone play it these days.

It's funny how quotes from certain games stick with you, my Dreamcast has served me well in that respect!
Such gems as...Crazy Taxi: "Let's go make some crrraaaaazy money!" "Time Bonus!" Sega Bass Fishing "Gooood fish!" Oh well, you had to be there at the time I suppose. |

The Dreamcast has a lot of classic games.
The Shenmue Series is absolutely brilliant. One thing that's great about Shenmue 2 is the fact that its in Japanese, adds more realism and you can learn some of the language of Japan. Also an excellent game is Skies Of Arcadia. Its an excellent RPG and really keeps you playing as Vyse the Sky Pirate. The Dreamcast also has the truly classic Jet Set Radio. One of the most original games ever seen and of the greats on Dreamcast. Metropolis Street Racer is of the most realistic driving experiences ever made on a console. All in all a classic console that still gets played and and some very classic games ever seen on console are on the Dreamcast. |

Hehe... the Crazy Taxi voices sound like Pete of BB7. "Let's go make some crrraaaazy money! Are ya ready? Heeeerrre we gooo!"
Shenmue was brilliance, what happened to Shenmue III? Did you know? The codename for the DC before release was Ketana; Shemue was the most expensive game of the 90's reaching an £8m budget, it also took around 7 years to make. |

![]() Oh, Shenmue 3 will never come out as (unfortunately) the first two games flopped big time. I love the first Shenmue and think Shenmue 2 is quite good, too. Last edited by Echo1 : 03-08-2006 at 23:46. |

I still love playing many emulators on mine.
The amount of self boot discs with nes, snes, megadrive and arcade games is unbelievable. The leaked beta of Bleemcast is also fantastic. |

I'm very keen on a Sega Dreamcast. I'm a SEGA fan alright, with the Mega Drive and various games SEGA have made and I'm tempted by the Dreamcast as I have enough money. Obviously there are no new games for it but the catalogue is fine and will provide me with plenty of gaming.
Chu Chu Rocket, Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi and others look very promising. I might check out some game stores tomorrow. |
