How ridiculous. Its not even Advent yet. Christmas is now one long trade fair.

Its about time a law was passed to keep it how it should be and not set stores up for Christmas til November.

I saw this covered on London Tonight yesterday evening. Some of the comments from the stores representatives were ludicrous, but strangely the department was packed with shoppers; very weird.

Gawd, how depressing. This year, I might actually have enough money to get away from all this Christmas shite.

I would hate to walk around a bauble selling shop right now.

BUT if i see something in the sale, and i think it would be perfect for someone in my family i do buy it and put it away.

But i wouldnt like to walk through a grotty grotto just yet !

I don't think I'm going to bother with much Christmas shopping this year. I'll just stick cash or cheques in a card, so I'll let people buy something they di want from the sales, instead of me buying something I think they'll want, full price.

Not that I'm losing the Christmas spirit, but it just seems to make more sense.

Christmas arrives in London
Christmas officially arrived in London on Tuesday as one retailer ignored the hot weather and got into the festive spirit. Launching its 15,000 sq ft 'Christmas World', Harrods reminded customers they have only 139 shopping days left before December 25.

A Father Christmas clad in a red safari suit and accompanied by a zebra were drafted in to mark the event. Bing Crosby's 'Let It Snow' played in the background of the department store's Christmas area.

Rival London store Selfridges will open its Christmas shop on Thursday - a fortnight earlier than usual.

Tinsel, Christmas trees, cards and decorations are among the items crammed into the festive area on Harrods' second floor.

I used to work in there in the Christmas department (not the one where Santa is now, I believe, though I'm sure it's all different). They played the 4 Seasons all day over and over and over and over and over and over again ..... aaargghhhhhh!!

I had a Saturday/holiday job in Woolies. I couldn't listen to Bing Crosby or Dean Martin for years afterwards. :-)

I know it seems really early , but the actual reasoning behind this is to allow the tourists from overseas and others here on holdiays in London to be able to buy Christmas decorations etc from Harrods whilst on their visit , as obviously they wont be able to do so at a later date as they are not in the country.

I remember last year though they did go a bit over the top as they had Father Christmas arriving with a reindeer and if I recall correctly he was wearing swimwear for the summer , as much as I understand their desire to have items available for suctomers to purchase I think a full on street display was a bit too much.

Since Harrords are displaying Christmas decorations

I thought, I might as well wish everyone a
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

There should be a law banning shops from displaying Christmas items until the 1st of December!
