Tiscali being slow (again...)

Does anyone know if there is a problem with Tiscali this afternoon (apart from it being Tiscali, moox ). Speed tests for me are averaging around 200Kbps (EDIT: and slowing dramatically! ):

http://www.speedtest.net/result/41901415.png

Even though it is a bank holiday, I thought there wouldn't be too much pressure on Tiscali in the afternoon, surely?

All the Tiscali haters will love this thread.
I have just tested my connection twice at 1.78Mb and 1.83Mb, so no problems in my part of sunny Essex.

I hope they haven't throttled me without notice!

Now that is a point, the fact you have brought it up must mean that you are close????

Seems strange though, there is no advertising campaign at the moment, I am only using it for general web browsing and it isn't a relatively busy period I would have thought. Seems so strange...

Ask Moox for the number of Zen Customer Service and see what they say, bearing in mind they will probably be bust and bought out by Tiscali soon.

Broadband will get even cheaper, most people would not/could not afford to have ZEN, I do not think they will be in their present form in say the next 12-18 months, and they will not be the only ones. Watch this space, it is only a matter of time, that is the reason you are on such a short contract. (

So people can't afford £25 a month?
Thats less than a pound a day

I've only been with Zen for around 4 months but AFAIK they have only offered monthly contracts?

At least they don't tie you in to a 12 or 18 month contract like some ISP's

You stay with Zen because you want to not because of contractual obligations

When Tiscali buys Zen out, I hope you stop moaning about Tiscali then , the same as Moox. You might be on £25 a month I believe Moox is almost double that? When the price goes down Zen will be squeezed even harder and harder. Years ago Matalan were regarded as very cheap, now they are regarded as dear and suffer, Zen will go the same way, honest.

Also if you mean going for Sky broadband for example, then it's not really as cheap as you say it is as you have to pay for Sky TV on top but I suppose if you already have Sky then it's a reasonable deal.

Me personally, I don't want Sky and am happy with freeview so it's no good to me

Another thing is that once you tie yourself into a 12 or 18 month contract, then what is to stop Orange or Sky increasing their prices and you are still locked into a contract?

If you leave them before the contract runs out, then you have to pay all monies agreed under the contract

The day Tiscali buys Zen out I will migrate as I upgraded to broadband to get away from dial-up speeds

It won't happen though

£34.99/month.

That's for truly unlimited 2Mbit, with 8 IP addresses, good customer service, BBC multicast, etc, etc, etc. You know, something like 40x tiscali speeds.

There you go like many others moaning about something you are not on. Pound for pound Tiscali are not that bad in my eyes, if all you lot are happy paying for Zen, I am happy for you, but why oh why moan about something you do not have??? If it is as good as you say why is not everyone/more people on it. Probably cost.

When has your speed been as good let alone better.
Mine is 1.89Mb at this moment for a third of your cost. At 8pm tonight as usual, I will be streaming internet football, no buffering, no blocky picture, I do this about 5/6 times a week through subscription, twice on Sat/Sun. How is your 2Mb better than mine?

Excuse me but I only entered the discussion after seeing your recent thread http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...62&postcount=1 which isn't factual as, like I have already said, all Max services are restricted to congestion exchange at peak time(s) and the only solution is to go for LLU or cable if available.

We could argue all night and not get anywhere so we will have to agree to disagree on this one

Your happy with Tiscali and I'm happy with Zen (despite the higher cost which I think is worth it).

Happy days

Funny, I could have swore a couple of shouts above this you were accusing Tiscali of dial up speeds?

No, TISCALI, please keep up I did mention it earler above that I watch all footy on the internet, I subscribe and watch it 5/6 times a week.
P.S. If you are a mate of Moox, ask him where you can get an improper SIP/IAX2 VOIP, he already has a proper one!!!

Jump up 10 posts and read what services Moox has.
If Moox has a proper one, does it come free with Zen???

How unfortunate.

(and no, Zen don't do VOIP. I use the opensource SIP and IAX2 protocols for my VOIP than what most people use - overpriced, overhyped, rubbish, need-pc-on, Skype. I'll leave that for the VOIP forum though)
