I've had it with Sky+

Like so many on this forum, my Sky+ box repeatedly freezes or doesn't record.

I've had it with Sky+.....all I want to do is grab the signal and push it into my Mac tower and use that as the recorder/playout...

Obviously there are some cool gadgets out there that I can put a digi terrestrial through into my Mac but.....I still want the channels I get on Sky!!

I am thinking about just buying a new HD as I reckon mine is cuckoo but didnt want to before looking at other options...

Any ideas guys/gals?

Don't bother with HD yet, it's very overpriced and there's not much stuff. Also the equipment is probably even more un-reliable than Sky Plus.
THink it's best to wait until the price comes down.

The Thomson HD boxes and combined with the latest software update are pretty stable.

I think xenradio may have meant HD = Hard Disc, vs HD = High Definition.

In which case having checked signal strengths etc, then it looks like the HDD could be on its way out so may be worth a try. Particularly if you could find a home in the Mac or a PC if it was not needed.

Have you tried a 'Sky+ Planner Rebuild', and a 'System Reset'?

I originally meant new Hard Drive (which I bought last night after trying the rebuild route) but I kinda am thinking about HiDef anyway so I guess I got both answers!

Cheers guys
