HBO stands for Home Box Office.
It's an american company that runs a number movie channels in america on digital satellite. (E.g. HBO, HBO2, HBO3, HBO Family). They also have a chanel in Poland I think. HBO are owned by Showtime Networks which in turn is owned by Viacom - the large madDOG company!(get the joke?? LOL ) They mean European version as in it won't be the American version. Anyway HBO in this country is more likely to be a UK version.

I hope HBO will launch on a rival service(I know that there will be a rival service in future...Virgin? Who knows?) and not on Sky. I don't hate Sky. I like Sky. I just think it will add more competition and interest to the pay tv market. Something this country needs!

Actually HBO is owned by Time Warner, them of the big dogs from Cartoon Network. Showtime is HBO's big competitor in the states.

The Studio will start on cable on 1 February, but I didn't think it was going on Sky yet!

As for the Gardening Channel, is this for business customers or a public one? Given it is the same poeple as do Automotive Channel, I wonder if it will be available to all? Any idea?

Available to everyone with a Garden. People in apartments, basement flats etc will not have it available on their EPG. LOLOL

I'd love to, but sadly my local won't serve you, something or other to do with underage drinking! Will a bottle of cider do?

Any comments to make on the channel launches this year ?

No, other than to say most of the above mentioned will never materialise.

I agree that many of these will never materialise. The Studio is not confirmed for Sky yet. If the BBC get approval (they haven't yet) for BBC3 and BBC4 don't forget that these will replace BBC Choice and BBC Knowledge: they're not extra ones. Many channels promised for 2000 are still not with us. These stations have to run financially and I don't think there's much £ left for too many new channels.

Einstein Channel

Is the Einstein channel produced by the Baby Einstein company that produce learning tapes and videos for babies and toddlers. If it is, having watched the video with my 1 yr old, then it may be the answer that the poster about the Landscape Channel may be looking for.

Wow,what a crappy lineup.Theres only about 2 channels there worth watching.Euronews will also be coming,I think it will proabably be in spring. Its about the only 1 im looking forward to.What is the obsession with money channels.Only a small minority of people need to watch them.Take most of them off and replace them with proper news channels.

I would to Patrick. It seems a shame that you have to be In the trade to recieve It. I Probably spend more time under a motor now than If I was In the Auto trade. Most of the time not through choice though.

No, unless you are in the car trade. Take a look at the web site. http://www.automotivechannel.com/

The 10 shopping channels from WOW. Is this still a goer? I asked before and I know one of the moderators was going to check for more up to date info. Just wondered if anything had been found.
