Disappointed Hollyoaks Fan

Not only did the show flopped at the ratings but also no new credits were screened either, which makes Hollyoaks look well stupid as they start with opening credits with dead on invalid character references.

First of all, 1.8 million is not a disappointing ratings figure, but in fact, it is a abysmal figure. Hollyoaks is used to getting bigger audiences for their big storylines and the Explosion was big- but didn’t get quite the right ratings figure. Even with the E4 cancellation, it still performed badly….Hollyoaks is used to greater heights in ratings as at least over 2 million should have had watched that episode. Loads of ppl are making different excuses of why Hollyoaks didn’t get a stronger viewing figure- it is simple why they got less- the awareness of the show!

How many Hollyoaks stars do you see on chat shows like This Morning, Sharon Osborne show or any other talk shows! The answer is none! It is the only way we can create awareness to different audiences that Hollyoaks has gone for the better with much better storylines, direction and acting, and lets be honest it has!

The bottom line is having just over 12% of the TV audience for a huge episode is rubbish…in fact just like any other episode! Remeber Luke's rape that got 25% of audience share and it was on a graveyeard slot! I love this show and I want people to watch it and realise that how far forward Hollyoaks has come…but again the awareness is not being created! No stars on Richard and Judy or any other show to promote the explosion or the new look Hollyoaks, the only time you see a Hollyoaks star interview is during a pathetic T4 interview…If Bryan Kirkwood is reading this…take note!

Another thing, why aren’t the credits changed! It is significant that the SHOULD be changed as most of them are invalid to the show…I mean Jake and Becca together or Olivia there with Jess…please get rid off it! If the producers are saying that they are currently working on them- well it should have been done ages ago….

Overall, after seeing the fantastic work and some great episodes of Hollyoaks, it is disappointing to see the lack of rewards….oh yeah the Inside Soap Awards are coming up as well….expect Hollyoaks to continue their amazing run of never winning any award at the ceremony since 2001- that was for ‘Best Dressed Star’ for Joanna Taylor!

Oh yeah and axe 'In The City' and thank god that is a flop. That show just bring the Hollyoaks brand a bad image, which destroys all the hard work that the team behind the 6;30 slot have put in. 'In the City' just repersents poor acting, pointless storylines, sex and two failed characters wanting to look like porn stars-----all the qualities that Hollyoaks isnt no longer...

I actually like in the city but they didn't need to use the Hollyoaks name in that did they.

Shame about the credits though, they should have been updated.

I agree with you about using the Hollyoaks name. But sadly they have in order to attract more audiences- but shame it didnt work...Another flop spin off for E4!

As for the credits, it is ridculous...it should have been updated surely by now

Yes I was really dissappointed that there weren't new credits either. That was the most exciting thing about the explosion, that it was a bit of a clearout and the next episode would come back fresh with new credits and music.

"gone to a better place" - hee hee .. what are you like?!!

Anyway, back to the topic in hand!

I agree it is soooooooo disappointing that the fire got such bad viewing figures but unfortunatley this is what seems to happen with Hollyoaks. It doesnt get the amount of viewers it deserves .... I just think to myself "oh well, everyone else is just missing out" and get on with it .... its rubbish but theres not a lot anyone can do!

Theres another thread somewhere about the Fire viewing figures and in there someone (think it was Guv actually) said that the highest number of viewers ever was for the Luke Morgan late night which got around 3.2 m ... correc tme if I'm wrong!

that could have drawn more viewers in, i dont understand how it doesn't get the viewers it deserves, it's on at 6.30 - there's naff all on at that time, so there's no great competition

Because a lot of "adults" who watch Corrie/EE etc are busy making tea etc at 6:30 pm ... so Hollyoaks doesnt get as many viewers as it could do! Plus people think its a soap for kids and teens!

Not helped by the fact that it was launched as a teen soap initially!

I think it's still suffering from the 'pretty cast, little plot' view of it by the media - I agree with Guv more should be done to raise it's profile and hit the bigger talk shows with interviews etc... I agree interviews on T4 are seen by a minority already into the show, what's needed is new viewers and to get those it needs more publicity to generate interest. The explosion was the best thing in tv soap in a long while and was a golden opportunity missed...

I hardly ever watch the 6:30 C4 ep as I'm not home in time, I usually watch the E4 eps. But I did make an extra-special effort to get home early last friday.

I'm sorry, I still thought the Emmerdale house collapse was more impressive.

Maybe they've tried but the talk shows etc wont have them on because they're "Hollyoaks" ... you only ever see cast members on shows like T4!

I think that moving the time slot would make a HUGGGE difference ... put it where Brookie used to be!

Might help as well if the soap mags covered HO more - have HO ever been on the front cover (the main picture I mean, sometimes they do have a picture/mention on the front cover but even when they do it's a few words or a tiny picture!)

Hollyoaks stars used to be interviewed on chat shows. I mean it wasn’t long ago that people like Jodi Albert was on Des and Mel, Richard and Judy were behind the scenes of Hollyoaks and This Morning also had interviewed Hollyoaks stars! Right now, the stars of the show seem to be nowhere! It is more than ever relevant to have Hollyoaks stars interview now than ever because of Hollyoaks changing into a new direction and aiming for a wider audience! If they don’t address this than Brookside will be Hollyoaks destiny!

Time slot has nothing to do with it...Time slot only occurs if Hollyoaks gets more than 9 or 12% of TV audiences

Exactly both “dead” rapists, and a few rape victims, even Stuart Manning with his long hair, oh yeah and Mandy…

Right now it wont be such a bad idea, but it be unfair to single out just This Morning!

No JJBB you are right...Although I can understnad why they didnt do a late night with the explosion, as 6;30 is definetly main priority in helping the show to raise viewing figures
