Town 102 Coming Soon...

Looks like, for once, Tindle might make an absolultely fantastic radio station here.

Live and Local for what looks like 19 hours a day M-F, some great LOCAL presenters like Nick Morrell, Jez Durrant and really pleased to save Dave Richardson on the schedule as well doing a disco show.

So, local radio - wide playlist - specialist shows (see their website) ... ... sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

They just need to stick to it, keep the automation away and get that signal on full power.

Good luck Town 102 FM!

Brilliant. Some good names there, and as you say hopefully the Automation will stay away

Can't imagine they won't use any voicetracking, but if they do there's no reason why anyone should notice. The Tindle stations are cloned and very sales led, which isn't a bad thing for commercial stations.....Maybe this one is an experiment to see if there's another way of doing things.

I'm hoping it'll be different to the other Tindles.

I used to listen alot to Dream 100, but then it seemed to get very heavy on Sponsorship, I understand why they need adverts etc and the usual speach about if you dont like Ads then listen to BBC, but they really seem to take it too far with almost every littlw feature item/adbreak sponsored by someone!

More proper speach content (like Town have proposed) should help over the bland and poor automation currently used on 100.2

Rob Chandler (another local lad) will be doing a Saturday morning show on Town.

Even on reduced power the signal seems to carry quite a way (good reception in Clacton the other day).

I'm looking forward to the station's launch in a couple of weeks time.

Tuned into it today after spotting a couple banners hanging up around Felixstowe with the words 'Love Music, Love Ipswich, Love Town 102'.

Rob Chandler is an avid Ipswich Town supporter so makes sense to have him on there (does this mean he could be making a permanent move after his long reign at Broadland ?).

I used to be very anti Tindle Radio but I must admit all their stations sound good (Radio Norwich, The Beach etc) now prefer to tune in to these after Kiss took over Vibe and fed up with 'GCrap' networking (Broadland, SGR).

After visiting Norwich for the first time in a few years last weekend, I must say I was VERY impressed by Radio Norwich - the only station worth listening to now in the city. Great mix of music, not just the same chart-Collins/Turner etc 80s stuff, and sounding local.

I heard the test transmissions for Town 102 as I went by Ipswich... an interesting playlist

Good luck to Tindle, everything else has gone stale around the east now, even the new boy of the area Kiss.

Although I would love to have heard this "A12 show" that London Media were promising in their bid, where they let students in Romford and Ipswich do a two hour prog on Time 107.5 and their proposed Orwell FM!!

The station launched this morning at 7.30.

Just listening on the webstream - Music so far even better than the test transmissions, very upbeat and varied.

Good to hear local personalities like Helen McDermott on there, they even got a town crier announcing the launch of the station!

The stream is sounding very good too...quite surprised for a 32k'er.

Good luck to all involved!
