Question re The Trainline website.

I often use The Trainline to buy train tickets and I always receive them in the post within three-four days of ordering. Until now. I ordered a ticket on the 4th September and it hasn't arrived yet. The journey isn't till the last week of November but I just wondered whether anyone else who uses them has ever had to wait for their ticket rather than it arriving immediately. The confirmation email gives a number to ring if you haven't received your tickets one day before your journey but I've never had reason to ring it as they've always sent them straight out.

Perhaps, they are planning to send it closer to your travel date but it may be worth ringing them anyway just to confirm that they will send it.

If you regulary use them and it's been a month this time of waiting just give them a call, it won't do any harm but may save you time in the near future.

I use the trainline approx. every 6 weeks. They state that the tickets are sent around a week before travel - but they have always sent mine earlier... so I'd be very tempted to give them a call, too...

I've used them and had them sent almost straight away , and also about three days before .

As having them early was what I was used to it got me a bit stressed when they were later , but they did turn up. I think there is a phone number there somewhere to call if they haven't arrived by three days before.

I didn't receive mine until the week before my journey when I booked early. I rang them and was told they are dispatched 7 days beforehand.

Apropos of nothing, the band Train (hit single - 'Drops of Jupiter') have got the URL www.trainline.com. I know at least three people recently who have been serenaded with a sample from their latest album when trying to book rail tickets and stumbling onto the wrong site. Brilliant piece of marketing, almost 'black propaganda'!

The same thing happened to us earlier in the summer when we bought some tickets for a journey in September. Expecting them 2-3 days later we had to call towards the end of August. It appears there are certain types of tickets (usually certain 'advance-type' tickets) that are only dispatched nearer the date.

Couldn't tell you exactly which ones because the woman at the overseas call centre responded to my every question by repeating "your tickets will be dispatched a week before you travel".

I didn't think most train companies released the tickets until 6 weeks before anyway, so it is probably just something to do with that.

I would wait until the end of the month before giving them a call, unless it is particularly worrying you.

Thanks for your comments,I'm not overly worried yet, just curious since this is the first time its happened. Will wait till nearer the time before ringing them if indeed it turns out to be necessary to do so.
