Nikki in Marmite: Art??
you couldn't make it up, could you....
Famous Faces captured in Marmite An artist has immortalised a series of famous faces including James Blunt and Jude Law - using toast and Marmite. Dermot Flynn's work will be displayed at a gallery in London alongside art created by the public using the spread. Flyn says he chose celebrities such as Simon Cowell and Big Brother's Nikki Grahame who polarise opinion. Artist Lennie Payne's giant toast portraits of famous people using a blowtorch and loaves of bread have been fetching £2,000 each with collectors. 'Terrified' Political figures which were captured in the yeast extract spread include former Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher and current Conservative leader David Cameron. Musician Pete Doherty, Victoria Beckham, TV chef Gordon Ramsay and singer Charlotte Church complete the line-up of 10 celebrities Mr Flynn chose to create "Marmart" portraits of. Marmite are using the exhibition to promote the launch of a new squeezable container for the product, whose advertising slogan in recent years has been "you either love it or you hate it". TV adverts from 2005 which featured a giant blob of Marmite drew complaints from parents who said their children had been "terrified" and suffered nightmares. The Marmite art exhibition is at London's Air Gallery until 28 October. |

James Blunt
Jude Law Margaret Thatcher David Cameron Pete Doherty Ms Beckham Simon Cowell Gordan Ramsay Charlotte Chruch and Nikki ![]() 10 famous faces, as deigned by successful artists Lennie Payne... I would say that Nikki has now surpassed the 15 minutes BB type 'fame' and moves into another field... albeit zeleb... one who will grace the entertainment media for a few years to come... Personally, unlike most female HMs I think it is refreshing that Nikki's appeal seems to emanate from who she is as opposed to solely her physicality, and like Jade and Anna befoer her, has more to offer than selling her feminity/sexuality post - BB.... and mya encourage BB to think of selecting more female HMs who are prepared to offer more than using BB has a ladder to become solely a glamour model and/or promotions girl... which are in effect the same thing in my opinion. I too think Nikki is as known for her personality as her look,
she IMO has had the best advice since she came out of the house, has managed to put her tawdry past behind her and has moved onwards and upwards to the beat of her own drum, she appeals to all markets not just the mens mags market I think she has done really well for herself, and whilst not being a big fan of hers I wish her well, her pre BB life was not a bed of roses, but her post BB one appears to be heading in that direction, |

but she has become so well known that she is included, that to me means that she has achieved a level of fame than transcends BB and its usual markets |

![]() The article suggests that the artist was taking Marmite's 'love it or hate it' character and translating it to famous people who also polarise opinion... like Pete Doherty and Nikki. I don't think it had anthing to do with Nikki's escort past.... although her reported past, it could be said, has also been part of the reason why she polarises opinion. Regards |

I will respectfully disagree, he probably hopes it gets picked up by the tabloids ergo more publicity for his work, he chose these faces with specific reasons behind them, IMO, otherwise Jade would have been chosen as the reality TV figure as she polarises opinions as much if not more than Nikki, and is more famous, he has also chosen Charlotte Church and Victoria Beckham, Charlotte has had a pop at VB in tha past, so who he chose were picked to get exposure due to the relations between each other Last edited by viola : 22-10-2006 at 15:59. |

if Jade picks her nose it is tabloid fodder, I did wonder if anybody has ever counted how many days since she left BB where there has not been a mention of Jade somewhere in the British media since she left the house, I bet their are few days when she has not had a mention for something, |

You state that Jade is more famous... you also state that the artist chose the figures for specific reasons and that he wanted more publicity... if that was the case, wouldn't he have chosen Jade? Does Jade really still polarise opinion, any moreso than the average celebrity... hasn't she now brought most people round and those that used to hate her, are now indifferent... as opposed to Nikki who clearly still polarise opinion? Jade, in my opinion stopped polarising opinions to the extreme after the OTT media campaign against her, when many people began to see her as the victim of circumstamce and deprivation as opposed to being the Ms Stupid and Minging as they originally pigeonholed her prior to the OT media 'hate' campaign? On reflection, I think the ten people chosen by the artist are in fact the selected housemates for the next CBB...
I'd pay for the live stream if were true! |

I personally think Jade still polarises opinion, she is either liked or loathed, she generates strong opinions still from many, |

The article states that the artist "chose celebrities who polarise opinion" and Nikki did this long before the public heard about her being an ex-escort or the connection between Pete Doherty and Nikki. She did this during BB with her DR rants, tantrums, shock first eviction, and controversial re-entry. Indeed, I don't think any other HM or celebrity has polarised opinion this year quite so much as BB7's Nikki Grahame. Nikki was the face of BB this summer for tv, newspapers, magazines, radio, and even Endemol who used her face on their mobile advert. Last edited by Philipa : 22-10-2006 at 16:16. |

He probably chose Nikki because she was in the papers the week he did it.............if he'd done it at a different time he would have picked someone else. It's ephemeral art........
These Yeast Extract Artists are all the same...........

Nikki and Marmite,
well they both turn my stomach, so a good match I'd say. |
