Loyality Schemes | What Do You Think?

Just thought I would through a topic in the mix about loyality schemes, Do you think if cable introduced some sort of loyailty scheme for existing customers it would be a good thing?

Maybe something simular to what some companies already have like the nectar scheme, or advantage points etc when you can earn points for every pound you spend on your bill with cable then use such points for rewards like free ppv movies, discounts on services or even now that they are linked with virgin use such points to get vouchers or offers on other virgin products?

I know some companies like Talk Talk for instance are apart of the nectar scheme where you can earn points from your monthly bills which you can then use on the nectar.com website to buy things - the more services you have the more bonus points you get, the bigger your monthly spend the more points you get etc... Just a thought as i think it would benefit customers.

Doesnt sky do something simular with the sky card?

They definitely need to have some sort of loyalty system....

You should always get a discount when you take more than one service. When we signed up to TW we went for all 3 services, this was back in the days of 512k broadband when you got it for £25 instead of £29.99 if you took more than one service.

When they dropped the premium for standalone broadband we were effectively paying full price and there was no advantage from having more than one service with TW except from there only being one bill .

As for discounts on other Virgin services or free movies.... I'm all for that.

I thought if you didn't have a phone line, you paid more for broadband.

Not these days. You can have broadband on it's own and it's the same price. However, if you want Starter or Essential TV, you must have a phone line. You can get Supreme TV without a phone line, but it's more expensive.

I subscribe to all three services (4Mb Broadband, Starter TV & Talk Weekends) and it would be great to get some sort of discount because I've got all three services, or maybe a couple of free PPV movies a month, or something to reward our loyalty to Telewest and for subscribing to all of their services.

Unfortunately the current UK business ethic is NOT to reward loyalty, whether it's your broadband provider, your local garage or your bank.

It's our own fault for always wanting the cheapest price for everything - just look at those people on here who are always trying to screw a cheaper deal out of Telewest (or Sky) by pretending they're going to leave.

We'll all just have to get used to the lack of reward for being loyal (and the poor customer service which is another symptom of the same thing).

I agree with you, a loyalty scheme isn't on anyone's agenda at the moment for precisely the reasons you cite.

Sky no longer give discounts anymore when cancelling they have stopped this as they are losing a lot of money on this so they'd rather the lost them than keep them customers.
