Views/comments on last nights show 28/10/06

As usual, here is my analysis. in order of who I thought was best. Please feel free to add your won comments/analysis'

Ray. When I first saw it I thought "One word: Dire" but after seeing it again, and comparing it against the rest of the acts, it kept me entertained. Yes, perhaps it was not the best vocal in comparison with someone like say, Leona, but it was by far the best "performance". One question though....How did he not slip over flat on his face during the dancing? You could practically see the slime dripping off the guy....and is it me, or did he bare more than just a passing resemblance to a ventriloquists dummy? Oh wait, that's 2 questions

Nikitta My favourite female, thought she was dressed a little more approriately this week. Not too sure about her dancing though... what was the point? I thought the song did suit her voice, although not as good as the first two weeks performances.

Ashley I have completely changed my opinion of this guy. When Kate spoke to him, a really different side to him came out IMO. Going back to his performance, I enjoyed it, but he looked a little uncomfortable on stage didn't he? As Sharon said, so what if he fluffed his lines? It can happen to the best of them.

Eton Road Still loving them, but I have to agree with Simon this week. It was a bit reminscent of The Unconventionals with not one band member taking lead vocals. Sigh, will Louis never learn? Still I suppose he didn't have to worry, as he knows Eton have a very public following so the public will vote for them regardless. They are probably getting the "Tweenie" vote more than they think they are IMO. Still, they all looked lovely didn't they?

Macdonald Bros I can hear you all crying "Why are they ahead of Leona?!" I based it on which performance I'd like to see again, and all the vocal on Leona's was exceptional, I'd rather see the Maccy D's perform again. To me this wasn't as good as sailing (which I know many people think they killed), but the image was ALOT better last night, suits suit them lol. They have a bigger fanbase than is first thought I guess, and I'm happy they stayed because of Rod Stewarts thoughtless comments on the radio earlier this week

Leona An exceptional vocal from Simon's favourite girl this week. I preferred last week's performance to be honest, this weeks sent me to sleep a bit Why was she performing with no shoes on?! Who's she trying to be, the next Joss Stone?!?

BenNice piano playing, and a nice guy. Sharon said "You could have been a bit softer on some of those notes Ben"....understatement of the week! It hurt my ears. But to misquote Sharon, I had put Ben in the rock singer category, and I wasn't suprised. Still not really getting the guy.

Dionne Her weakest performance to date. I think yes, she deserved to go home, but for her sake I kind of wis it had been on the judges vote and not the lowest public one. Also, the dress, the lipstick, that huge white flower...oh gosh

Kerry To be frank (as Westlife once said ) I'm glad she's gone. Yes, she was cabaret, and another victim of Sharon's dreadful styling. Hopefully Mrs O will remember her contacts next week.

Robert I disagree with Simon, it was dreadful. I'm not a Robert fan at the best of the times, but that stupid "sympathy" unborn child plee was shameful! And we can't even blame the producers! It clearly worked though

Overall verdict: This week was only really good for Ray. After this ear-bashing, I'm looking forward to Abba week next week.
Oh yes, and for once it didn't look like Kate Thornton had covered herself in superglue and walked through Monsoon.

You make some good points even if I disagree with your order in places. The main points that I disagree with are your comments on Ashley, I think his performance was awful, not because he forgot the words but because he was out of tune throughout and looked like he had no idea what he was doing there. He didn't attempt to perform in anyway and his "cover-up" of his mistake was awful. Plus I don't think the interview did him any favours. My other slight disagreement was that I thought both Dione and Kerry looked stunning last night. Other than that I agree with you on every point although not with your order of preference.

i agree with quite a lot of your comments.
I would not put Robert at the bottom though, i thought he was fantastic last night (i just didnt like his speech about people having to vote for him because he has a son)

I agree with a lot of your comments too. Though I didn't get Ashley, Leona or Ben. I agree with you about Ray last night. The whole theme was to save him from packing his bags last night. I think he'll be gone next week unless Ashley or Ben manage to murder an Abba number.

Anyway, I'm glad Nikitta got through. She's my fave too but she really struggled with the dancing last night and should leave it out...or copy Leona and come on barefoot.

I wish the camera men/people would have calmed down , really distracted me from the vocals, especially when Robert was singing, the camera was all over the place, zoom out, audience shot, swing round zoom out, brass section shot, I was getting so annoyed with the camera shots I couldn't concentrate on Roberts voice!
I liked Ben (even the Camera men couldn't spoil a guy on a piano)
I thought Eton Road were a mess
Ashley was dire
and the others forgettable!

Random question I know, but, does anybody know what the music was played during the VT for Dionne? It was played for another contestant (maybe Robert, but I can't remember). Thanks!

Hubby & I wondered if it was cos she's trying to be shorter for Simon? Allegedly it's been said he has "SMS" (short man syndrome) .
She's definately his "type" if you look back on his romantic history & it's obvious ioho that he fancies her. His long-term on-off ex' is getting a bit long in the tooth now, so maybe he fancies a younger model?

Is it just me who thinks it has all been fixed?

They know who they want in the final and Ashley is one of them!

In the situation Lousi was in last night.....he would of sent Ashley home by getting revenge on Simon. But he keeps Simons act in? hmmmmm

If Ashley starts polling in the bottom two a couple of weeks, they will soon send him packing.

Having scraped through this week, I doubt that he'll be in the bottom two next week but there's no guarantee he won't be the following week and the week after.
