can we Please have a MODERN WEEK theme?

i'm tired off all these old fashioned week themes ... and the judges moan about the yougner contestants struggling ... of course their gonna struggle, most of them werent born then the songs they perform were released

no wonder their getting voted off

we need a few modern and current theme weeks with chart songs or dance songs

forget the stupid abba, big band etc

the winner aint gonna be releasing this material as it wont sell

and people might argue with me, but have any of you bought shayne wards album ... all it is, is POP songs ... i rest my case

Rod Stewart week was terrible, Tony Bennett week was Diabolical, Abba week was very good. IMO.
Not sure I would like a modern week, from what I have seen of the latest pop videos, they all seem to be men surrounded by women in bikinis wearing bling talking about how are they are going to kill people with a gun.

That's why there are more acts left in the 16-24 section to any other?

Hypocrite

not to mention eaton road being only 17

i do agree about these themed weeks being rubbish though.
I much prefer it when the acts sing songs they are comfortable with so we can at least see how good they can be.

Yes, it's utterly ludicrous when every week the judges lambast a singer's performance for sounding thirty years old, before invariably trotting out Lionel Richie (57) Rod Stewart (61) Tony Bennett (80) and Bjorn Ulvaeus (61).

I'd love for one of the contestants to shout the judges down with this moronic contradiction, and ask the judges why their show, with its thirty year old format, has no credibility with the younger, contemporary musicians it desperately wants to compete with in the charts.

Well unlike the OP I can remember the 'old' music pretty well (apart from swing which I hate) but seem to remember that Abba/Rod Stewart were considered pretty cheesey in my young day and were certainly never cutting edge. Why can't we have a punk week? I'd love to hear Ray's 'swing' version of 'God Save the Queen'

Now you come to mention it, Ray does have a bit of the Antichrist about him. I think it comes from wearing a cravat at the age of 12, it messes with your head.

I think you're in a tiny minority there, the ABBA show was the worst X Factor/Pop Idol I've ever seen and most people here seem to agree.

They need to broaden the themes... maybe an 80s week, then a 90s week, and have a guest who was prolific in those years, or perhaps a music manager who was prolific in those years.

What a good idea. The trouble is each week they would be doing almost the same thing, although Ray has managed that so far as it is lol

Ray's swing version of Waterloo was abominable.

It reminded me of Mike Flower's version of Wonderwall. But that was supposed to be a joke.
