2nd Batches of Wiis
I'm tragically not going to be able to buy the Wii on launch day due to a lack of funds but does anyone know what the chances of either A - left over stock being available in late Dec/Early Jan?
and/or B - new batches of Wii arriving at the shops in late Dec/Early Jan? Basically I want to be able to get a Wii but the likely time is after xmas. Is there any chance of this happening does anybody know? |

According to the big N you should just be able to walk into a store and buy one, because they're producing so many. This however will probably be complete bullsh!t, and your best bet will probably be late Jan/early Feb for the 2nd batches.

I had thought they would be shop available, as Nintendo allegedly were producing them from July onwards.
However current figures seem to put them at 4 million units available, worldwide thats not an awful lot. So it would be well into new year, I would guess, for a second batch. |

4 million is nearly 1 fifth of the total number of Gamecube's sold in its lifetime so surely 4m is a very ambitious amount.
I mean if they sold 4 mil every 2 months then they would outsell the number of Gamecube units in 1 year. I thought they won't get that 4 million into the shops all at the same time but maybe over the space of november and december, meaning deliveries in late dec/early jan to catch the post xmas shoppers but I may be wrong. Although Microsoft behaved very differently to Nintendo - seeing as the 360 was certainly rushed to get it in the shops before 2006 started, when did the 2nd batches of Xbox 360s appear in shops? |

If it's a family gift then fair enough but I'm not a parent or anything so the console would be just for me and I'd rather use xmas and work money to buy it so it feels partly like a gift. |

The Wii uses much older and easier-to-make technology than the 360 or PS3, so Nintendo will be able to manufacture them far more easily and in far greater numbers.
You should be able to buy a Wii fairly easily, it won't have anywhere near the problems that the 360 or PS3 have had at launch. |

There will be a second batch in mid-december and stock levels will be good although play.com and amazon are still taking pre orders.
Argos opened their list a week or so ago. Virgin megastores have opened their list up this week. |

Oh and here seem to be proof that more will be released before xmas - hopefully meaning I can get on a few days later. (Taken from another forum):
Hi guys This is for all those who ordered online and haven't received any confirmation from GAME.CO.UK. Received this email today after emailing them after the letter had been sent to instore pre-orderers (a fair few days after their 48 hour promise and way after I cancelled my order). Hi Rob, Thank you for your email and I apologise for the late reply. We have currently informed all customers lucky enough to qualify for a release date postage of the Nintendo Wii. If you then have not received anything through the post regarding this, I fear that you may have missed out. We are due a second allocation of Wii consoles before Christmas however. When we receive exact details on this, we will inform our customer and so I hope that you qualify for this shipment. Kind Regards A l e x . Customer Services GAME Stores Group Ltd. 0871 200 1221 |

Thanks for that info, looks like despite me ordering on the day we could, I am not in line for one. A mate who religously watched game.co.uk every 10 minutes and got in there quick has also heard nothing. So Game are once again shafting online customers. Lucky there are still other places to order from. Game have now officially lost my Wii pre-order and I will not even consider them for a PS3. |

I'm actually gonna stay away form Game and Gamestation when I get my Wii. I'd much rather go into a place like Tesco where I can get a better discount, e.g. clubcard points, and get one from there as I'd expect them to be less likely to sell out as quickly as the places you go first, e.g. ePlay and Game.
