Monday 27 November 7.30 - 8pm ITV1

As Cilla (Wendi Peters) leaves for another shopping trip, Les (Bruce Jones) is now more convinced than ever that she's up to something. Yana's (Jayne Tunnicliffe) finally prepared to listen and visiting Les with a fish and chip supper she supports his fears. But as the pair begins to drown their sorrows, both upset by Cilla's seeming betrayal, Cilla enters a hospital. When the doctor suggests she sit down Cilla's face says it all as she prepares for the news she has been dreading.

Hollow-eyed and unshaven, Danny (Bradley Walsh) sits alone unable to face the prospect of going to work. Frankie (Debra Stephenson) tells Jamie (Rupert Hill) she's sure Danny will come out of this smelling of roses as usual. But her betrayal has hit Danny hard and as he drives to a secluded viaduct dark thoughts crowd his mind. What is Danny thinking?

Hayley's (Julie Hesmondhalgh) reluctant to leave Becky (Katherine Kelly) alone at the café but when Frankie calls in sick she has no choice. Becky's out to prove herself and moves into whirlwind efficiency mode. But how will she react when Slug (Marshall Lancaster) comes in looking for one of his freebies?

Elsewhere, Jason (Ryan Thomas) tries to make a proper date with Sarah (Tina O'Brien), and Norris (Malcolm Hebden) isn't happy to find a graffiti artist has been at work outside the Kabin.

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Stephen Bennett, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Kay Patrick. Coronation Street is made by ITV Productions.

Tonight's First Episode

Monday 27 November 8.30 - 9pm ITV1

Cilla (Wendi Peters) sits in shock as the doctor tells her she has skin cancer and will need an operation as soon as possible. Pulling on all her strength Cilla makes her way back to the street to talk to her family but before she can speak she's confronted by Les (Bruce Jones) and Yana (Jayne Tunnicliffe) who are united as they accuse her of having an affair. Cilla's stunned as Les tells her to leave. With nowhere to go, she makes her way to Fiz's (Jennie McAlpine), but having encountered her lies so many times before will her daughter be prepared to listen?

After more soul searching at the viaduct, Danny (Bradley Walsh) finally puts dark thoughts aside and returns to the street. Back at the factory, Liam (Rob James-Collier) demands to know where he's been. Under pressure, Danny tells Liam that Frankie has left him but it's not until Liam leaves that Danny finally breaks down.

Elsewhere, Claire's (Julia Haworth) growing increasingly concerned for Tracy (Kate Ford) and sends a note asking her to go for a drink. Realising she can use this to her advantage, Tracy insists Charlie (Bill Ward) goes to the pub alone and tells Claire she doesn't feel up to it. Charlie passes on the message but it only serves to fuel Claire's suspicion about Charlie keeping her locked up.

And Jason (Ryan Thomas) steps up his pursuit of Sarah (Tina O'Brien) with flowers on the doorstep. Is he beginning to win her round?

Hayley would trust her because that's the kind of person 'Haylz' is.

Obviously we all know that it's a mistake.

Loved Cilla's idea of dressing smartly. She still looks like she's on the game. And as for Yana...!

I wonder if we get the now-traditional Battersby Christmas decorations this year?

Becky's accent is beyond annoying I don't remember her having such a strong accent when she was in the soap earlier (during the Kelly story line) but these days her accent and her v. annoying habit of not pronouncing the end of a word is grating.

Does anyone think that the character of Jamie Baldwin has become a bit of a "tart"?
By that, I mean he used to be a good character, but this "lovesick puppy" image, in my opinion, is just a bit pathetic really. I'm not criticising Rupert Hill's acting, but are the writers getting bored? I just don't get the Frankie/Jamie storyline at all!

I think the Cilla storyline is going to be interesting - the contrast between her normal self and the mellow self.

The toning down of the Battersby's is Steve Frosts greatest contribution so far. The OTT comic storylines made me hate them

First Episode

Another so-so episode. The Battersby-Brown stuff was a bit variable. Wendi Peters put in another good performance as Cilla ~ you can't help but feel for her. I'm looking forward to seeing how she takes the cancer news in the second episode. It was also nice to see Yana getting a little more to do than usual. I liked her description is Cilla a lot:- Think girl, really quiet!" lol
The fiz / Chesney stuff was ok ~ I liked it when he told Fiz he'd been crying. Bruce Jones was just about acceptable but he is The Weakest Link as far as the Battersby-Brown clan are concerned.

The Baldwin stuff was nothing special & there's nothiong on screen that convinces me that Frankie & Jamie are in love with each other. Perhaps (despite what has appeared in the press) neither Debra or Rupert actually believe in the storyline & that's why it's they're not coming across as a couple in love rather than stepmother & stepson.

Becky wasn't too bad in this episode but that sort of behaviour with the customers will soon get very tiresome to watch. I did like Blanche taking note of everything that was going on & Becky making a point of letting her see that she paid for Slug's coffee.

Rita & Norris were on form as usual, although Reet moved swiftly back into The Kabin considering how badly she was hobbling when she got back on Friday. Obviously The Kabin has magical properties which has led to a rapid improvement in her mobility.

Jason & Donk:

6 out of 10.

Poor Cilla, Wendi Peters is doing fantastically with this storyline. She's been toned down but it's very good to see that it is still the same Cilla.

The Battersby-Brown house is disgusting. Even your average scruff wouldn't tolerate the state that that house is in!

The "incest" saga continues to annoy.

Tonights mix of pointless characters were probably the worst bunch for a while. Liam Connor, Becky wots er face and of course Sean Tully putting in a token appearence. That's without mentioning the Battersby-Brown clan. These characters are irredeemable for me I'm afraid but it is nice to see Wendi Peters be able to give a more toned down performance but I still don't see Cilla as a 'real' normal character I'm afraid. A little bit less make-up and some new decor at the Battersbys house and I might just be able to see Cilla as being a 'real' character. Les needs to go though. Amazingly I find him to be worse than Cilla.

I do not believe for a second that Yana would turn against Cilla and betray her just because Cilla never told her a secret. Yana would at least get the full story off Cilla. Ridiculous and not true to Yana's character at all. Not that I care about them betraying her character as I've never liked her anyway, another cartoon character with the actress Jayne thingie me bob being limited to a caricature performance.

Blanche continues to annoy. So much hype nothing delivered.

Bradley Walsh has put in a great performance throughout this "incest" saga, it hasn't been enough to save the storyline of course but at least he has put in some good effort unlike the other two culprits involved.

I hope the second episode is better and I've just realised that I've missed the first 15 minutes of it. Oh dear. It looks like I'll be watching it on ITV2 later.

Poor Cilla! I wish she would tell Fiz and Les about her skin cancer instead of holding back and taking the accusations that are being thrown at her!

They're only my own personal thoughts on the episode kid, no need to get wound up kid and wonder why I bother watching Corrie kid. For the record kid I watch Corrie kid because I usually enjoy it kid even when it's crap kid. At the moment they have a bad mix of storylines kid but a couple of months back it was great kid. It's all swings and roundabouts kid and maybe when the current crop of storylines has finished and are replaced by some that I like kid then my reviews will become more favourable kid. Simple logic kid.
