Corrie ~ Sunday 17th December

Sunday 17 December 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Members of the Battersby-Brown household nervously prepare themselves for the worst as a terrified Cilla (Wendi peters) awaits her test results. Chesney (Sam Aston) is anxious about how life will change if his mum becomes ill and conveys his suspicions about Les (Bruce Jones) and Yana (Jayne Tunnicliffe) to Kirk (Andrew Whyment). His worries aren't eased when he comes home to find Les and Yana at home together. Over at the hospital Cilla is in high spirits after being told that her cancer hasn't spread. However, her mood changes dramatically when Chesney lets it slip that Les and Yana have been up to no good. Overcome with fury that she has been betrayed by her best friend and husband, Cilla makes a spur of the moment decision and lies, telling her famly that her cancer is terminal. How low will Cilla go to get her revenge?

Things are no better for Frankie (Debra Stephenson) who is feeling uneasy about Danny's disappearance and wonders whether or not to report him missing. When she phones Danny's mother Viv (Patricia Brake) and discovers that she's not heard anything either her worries grow deeper. What has happened to Danny?

After already arousing Gail's (Helen Worth) suspicions about Charlie (Bill Ward) with her iron burn, Tracy (Kate Ford) manipulates her further with subtle allusions to Charlie's temper and angry disposition. How many people can Tracy draw into her web of deceit?

Elsewhere, Sarah (Tina O'Brien) and Jason (Ryan Thomas) seem to be getting closer as they play happy families taking Beth to Santa's grotto, will they rekindle their relationship?

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by David Lane, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Duncan Foster. Coronation Street is made by ITV Productions.

Speaking of Adam ... where is he? I know people have breaks but this is just ridiculous. He's pointless so he might as well go. The last time I remember him is when Tracy got kicked out of Charlies and was back at no. 1 and all he did then was moan.

Oh I dunno, I'm rather enjoying his abscence.

Hi ya. Becky's back and keen to question Frankie and Violet

Not a ********* free episode. In that close up at the end, Mrs ********* she reminded me of Les Dawson

Nice to See Claire being nicer

Apart from the family from hell, there were some good scenes.

Wow that was actually quite a good episode. The Frankie/Jamie parts were tedious but Gail and Tracy were good. I think the Cilla storyline has been quite well done. Although I like Cilla at times she has seemed quite pantomine, they managed to maker her seem realistic - her anger and the emotions on the faces of her family. I just hope her character can live up to the badness they are creating for her. She really is almost wicked.

Not a bad start to the week. Wendi Peters put in another good performance as Cilla. You couldn't help but feel sorry for her in the first half as she said that she was going to get the results on her own & then as she watched the other couple (who had obviously had a bad result) come out of the room. I could have done without seeing her snog the consultant, but I suppose that is just the sort of thing that Cilla would have done.
Of course, by the end of the episode you couldn't help but feel anger towards her as she lied about having terminal cancer & played with Fiz's & Chesney's emotions as a result.

The stuff with Bev / Claire & Ashley was quite nice with Bev being all upset about Joshua's 'angel' comment. Not surprised that Ashley & Claire were very keen to get her to visit Shelley for Christmas.

Framie was dull, but it was nice to see Eileen staying loyal to her friend Frankie by going round & seeing how she was coping with everything.

Charlie & Tracy moved no further forward & the stuff with Gail added nothing to the episode.

6 and a half out of 10.

I enjoyed tonight's offering.

Nice to end the episode with Cilla's cancer storyline rather than the two dominant stories at the moment Tracy/Charlie and the Danny Baldwin saga.

Cilla was beyond awful though to put through Chesney and Fiz through her 'revelation' and i seriously don't think that Fiz will ever forgive her mother for doing this. Though the scene in the Rovers was good and i am enjoying the storyline. Wendi Peters really is proving to be a major asset to the show. Great actress.

I was pleased Frankie went to chat with Violet. Though i don't really see why Violet should be that bothered by the whole situation with her and Jamie. Move on. Good to see Eileen have some time for Frankie as well despite clearly split loyalties with one of her adoptive brood members.

I enjoyed the Christmas Tree scene at the Peacocks. I think Bev is great and i am still gutted that she is leaving the show. I have enjoyed her scenes with Joshua and today was another one of those moments.

7.5 out of 10.

I got the impression that she was lining up Gail as a witness as well.

Possibly, although Claire has already asked Gail to keep an eye out so she's already a witness in that sense. However I suppose you could claim that Tracy wouldn't know about that.

Has anyone noticed when you click on Ritas Kabins link- the updates are available right up to Christmas Day. They aren't usually available as updates that far in advance. I have looked before and they haven't got that evenings on yet if I have been at work until 8.30pm!
I am going to read through the lot before they disappear in case I don't watch some episodes before Christmas!

This has to be the beginning of the end for Cilla's character. When everyone finds out she just can't stay in the soap.

When does Bev leave? And don't you think Claire and Ashley are being horrible to her? She's not that bad, and she is trying!

With all the build up to Cilla saying she had terminal cancer it sounded as if she was just doing it to get attention and people looking after her but the split second decision to say it was based on her anger at Les and Yana and was almost understandable but you can see she will very soon come to regret it. The Battersby partnership is not one exactly based on trust is it?

I'm not sure but it obviously easier to adopt these days even if you have a criminal record and poor acting skills than it is to get your living room redecorated.

I think she was just so relieved.

The Cilla stuff was good but i don't like how she's deceiving poor Ches & Fiz
too.
Don't think we actually heard any more of the adoption since Cilla's moving speech & the lady saying she would do all she could but it's nice Les adopted Chesney.
Framie is leading up nicely to the body turning up.I liked Eileen talking to Frankie too & it was also nice when she went round to see Jamie on Fri's & said she was worried about him,not just to 'give a lecture'.
Tracy's dragged Gail into it now,not my fave storyline at the moment.

It was a fair while ago. Didn't someone come round to interview Les and talk to Chesney about it?
