Strange watch-like thing round wrist?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

There's a guy at my work who wears a weird thing round his wrist, I have no idea what it is and feel its a bit rude too ask! He's in his 40s.

It is exactly like a watch, except the "face" where the clock part should be is just a plain metal circle with some kind of symbol on it. He wears a normal watch on the other wrist. Any ideas what it could be? Some religious thing maybe?

Could it be indicating he is diabetic or something?

Well it's made of metal, it isn't some cheap plastic thing, it's some form of jewellery I think?

Why do I want to know? Because I've never seen anything like it before and I'm curious, and I don't know him well to feel comfortable asking him.

Perhaps an SOS bracelet .. I remember them around years ago ..
Medical Information on the wearer can be written inside, in case of emergency.

A child in my class last year wore something very similar, it was to let people know in an emergency that he is allergic to penicillin

Even if I didn't know him,if I was that curious i'd go up to him and say"I hope you don't mind me asking but that's really nice and I just wondered where I could get one"
A;He'll probably be flattered that you asked.
B;He's more than likely to tell you what it is.

It does sound like an ID bracelet on which details of a condition are carried, maybe that he's epileptic, diabetic or allergic to a common drug.

I don't see why you won't ask him, he'd probably be glad of the chance to have someone aware of his medical needs at work.

Did it by any chance look remotely like this?

Or could be one of those magnetic bracelets that claim to aid rheumatism

It could be a medi-alert bracelet.

I wear one, mine has the normal SOS on the top side and a St Christopher on the other side.

Most people think its a watch or bracelet, you wouldnt know until you looked closely. It has information inside about medical stuff which is vital for the wearer.
