Digital Terrestrial - Frequently Asked Questions

Hi,

Upon request, a 'Frequently Asked Questions' page for the digital terrestrial forum has been created, and can be found here. The guide lists and answers the most common questions asked in this forum.

This should be the first port of call for all new members to the digital terrestrial forum, or existing members who are seeking the answer to a question which crops up regularly.

Before posting, please check the guide to see whether a question has already been answered for you.

Alternatively, if there is a common question which you think should be added to the FAQ, please suggest it (with a comprehensive answer if possible) in this forum thread.

A special thanks to graham_uni, chrisy and jratkinson for writing parts of the guide.

Similar FAQs will be created for other forums here on DS.

UPDATED November 19, 2003...

In addition to checking the FAQ, members who wish to take part in discussions in our DTT forum should also bear in mind the following:

1) Please post in the relevant forum. Technical matters, pertaining to set-top boxes, software, reception issues, should be posted in the Technical forum. All other matters, such as Freeview's channel lineup, interactive services, etc, belong in the main DTT forum.

2) If your thread is not directly related to DTT, it doesn't belong in here. For example: a thread about the programming content on Sky News belongs in the 'Channels and Programming' forum, where all non-platform specific discussion takes place. A thread about reception of Sky News via DTT would, however, belong here. While this may seem like word-play, the distinction is important. Non-DTT discussion and duplication of topics are frequent problems and we are trying to cut down on them so that both existing and new members know where to find particular topics.

3) While constructive debate and argument is welcomed on our forums, petty insults and bickering are not. If you dislike something a particular user has posted, please alert us to it using the 'alert' button where we will deal with it appropriately. Continuing a thread that has degenerated into personal sniping is unhelpful and lowers the tone of our community.

4) In part related to point two above, we ask that members try to keep threads on-topic. Also, pointless posts will be removed and may result in members involved losing their posting privileges.

5) Posting plain untruths on these boards for wind-up purposes or purely to get attention is likely to result in the member concerned losing their posting access to our boards, as the resulting disruption and damage to Digital Spy's reputation as a site for high-quality discussion are not things the staff, nor the majority of members here, are prepared to tolerate.

Many members already adhere to these guidelines, and are in a large part responsible for the continued success of our community. We hope all our members will choose to review the above points, consider them when using our forums, and help to continue making DS the success that it is.

Thank you.
